The plan at the time was to win and staY competitive and not do a total rebuild. That lasted about 10 games into last season before they realized that was not realistic

Yeah it didn't take a genius to realize you don't have to wait 10 games to figure out that it wasn't going to work out. Team was going to be bad

Those are fair criticisms of Garland and Sexton. Shouldn't be made public though, so it's a message to Koby that it's time to move on.

Love is a big reason that we have a title. He stuck around when Kyrie and Lebron didn't. He never had to do that. Love is gonna help this rebuild push forward and I'll be sad it's without him
He didn’t have to do it? No, Love wasn’t wanted like Lebron and Kyrie around the league. He jumped on the opportunity to get a lot of money from the Cavs when it was clear he was going to start to decline.

The article says Love took 7 shots the other night and TT took 11. First of all, i think TT shooting 11 times is about right and lately Love's been plying like a wuss so if he wants more shots he should get more assertive. He's played in 7 out of the last 10 games and is shooting 38% from the field during that stretch. After a good start he's really fallen off lately and i'm just really hoping somebody sees enough value in him to give up 1-2 assets.
He not who I thought he was and his leadership sucks. A Vet crying about a newly installed offense and placing blame on a 2nd yr player and a rookie.

Get him out of here.

He could try something called “Being a leader,” or actually getting back down the court and playing D.

I can't find the video but all those quotes were taken from a video that the Cavs put up a couple days ago. We were discussing how he seem down in the interview. Those quotes seemed out of context in the article. These articles from cavaliersnation.com all seem to be pulling weird quote to stir a narrative for clickbait. Many of us here watched that video and didn't even pick up on those quotes.

I subscribed to a website called Cleaning the Glass to get a few stats.

Love's usage rate is highest on the team and in the 85th percentile for the league. They get him the rock and he either shoots, assists, or turns it over.

In terms of points per shot attempt, Love is still pretty good; he's in the 74th percentile which is also best on the Cavs. In fact, this year's figure of 124.8 points per 100 shot attempts is the best of his career.

In assist percentage (percent of teammates' made shots that Love assisted on) he's in the 82nd percentile so he's an outstanding passer. Love's assist percentage is the second best of his career. Collin Sexton is in the 2nd percentile, by the way.

Love is pretty bad in one category - turnover rate. He's in the 17th percentile. I think he needs to clean up his footwork so he doesn't keep getting called for traveling in the low post on spin moves. He also needs to protect the ball better when double teamed so he doesn't get stripped or have his passes deflected.

Love's turnover percentage is the highest it's been in 10 years and over 50% higher than the next highest year since his second season in Minnesota. If he can bring it down to his normal levels he'd be a better offensive player. This may be an indication of aging; the slower he moves the easier to poke the ball away from him in traffic.

I don't know how he is graded individually on defense, but when he's on the floor the Cavs allow 3.7 fewer points per 100 possessions than when he's off which puts him above average (74th percentile). When Love is on the floor the Cavs are in the 86th percentile in defensive rebounding.

In terms of normal stats, Love is right on his career averages in 2-pt and 3-pt percentage. His offensive rebounding is way down - by two-thirds to be exact, suggesting he's not pushing for offensive boards nearly as much now that he's on the wrong side of 30. He doesn't go in and mix it up on the offensive glass like TT.

His defensive rebounding and assists are above his career averages. He's playing one minute less per game below his career average and surprisingly, is taking 2.2 fewer shots.

He's missed 4 of 21 games, the last one to illness.

I think he's got a lot of offer a playoff team, especially once he adjusts to the tighter calls on traveling. Whether anybody wants to take on that much salary and pay him $30 million at age 34 is the question. But it's not like he depends on his hops or an explosive burst that will be fading away. As long as he can knock down the three and has those up fakes...

Sounds like he needs to work on some fundamentals

Kevin really isn't helping his trade value with games like this. He looks completely checked out.

Cavs medical staff red flagged MPJ a year ago. I doubt they magically clear him now.

Loves been red flagged for about 4 years. At least porter is younger and cheaper with upside.

Love has been injured. Not medically red flagged. Teams had MPJ off their draft boards because of his back issue. I am not arguing his upside. I am not saying I wouldn't make that trade. But the medical staff has to approve of acquiring MPJ and that seems highly unlikely at this point.

Also it's not just MPJ's injuries, all 3 of his siblings have knee issues. So on top of his back, you have to worry about his knee since his brother and both sisters have had knee issues.

I’m disappointed that Love, one of our supposed leaders, came out and spoke negatively about the team and its coach. That stuff needs to be handled in-house and he knows that, which makes me think he must be trying to force a trade.

Hopefully these repeated poor performances by Love are showing people, including those in the Cavs front office, that his value isn’t nearly as high as we all might think & hope it would.

Love’s contract is an albatross and they aren’t moving him without taking back at least one bad contract in return. It’s really that simple. I also don’t believe we can get a first round pick that isn’t at least top 10 protected for him.

In terms of MPJ, that’s a hard pass. The guy is an injury waiting to happen. It’s unfortunate because he, clearly, has talent. His body just won’t allow him to stay healthy.
