I have NEVER seen this version of Kevin Love before.

He contested a Julius Randle dunk and Randle had to hook him to create space. Offensive foul on Randle.

Love dove for the ball on another defensuve possession, sacrificing his head in a collision to get the ball.

Isaiah Hartenstein later got called doing an illegal screen on him.

He is just being consistently, aggressively physical on defense tonight against the Knicks, and I'm wondering what steroids and threats Pat Riley gave him to play this hard on D.

This version of Kevin Love never existed before for the Cavs.

You all should hate him for not playing like this for ya. :)

He has had bursts of saltiness on D on occasion.

But will it persist to the playoffs?

I do wish him all the best, but I am still a little unhappy about how his tenure with Cleveland ended.

He's only motivated to get another contract.

Probably ends up hurt before the playoffs if he tries to play with consistent intensity.

Only way for him though, he could coast off his history with the Cavs to an extent, allowing him to take plays (quarters, weeks, months..) off on defense. Not in Miami though, especially with the prevailing view that he washed adjacent.

At this point his shot might not come back until next season when he can properly work on it in the off season, not enough time in season with all the recovery, travel and such.

He definitely didn't play with any intensity in the 3rd qtr vs Brooklyn tonight. Late on closeouts to the 3 ball, standing around on offense doing nothing...it was pretty dreadful.

The Nets are about to jump a half game ahead of them with this W, too.

It was a shameful display -- had to turn it off. Nets outscored them 39-18 that quarter after being down at halftime.

Kevin Love's decision was short sighted.

He traded away an opportunity to provide moments of playoff vet basketball with a team filled with those that seemed to care about him and respect him. A team whose bond is noticeable. A team, while young, is positioned to make a long playoff run THIS year. A team he has been tenured with longer than any other in his career. Kevin Love left Cleveland for what? To satiate his own ego? Because he demanded to be in the rotation? That's understandable but...

It was short sighted.

He's now on the Miami Heat next to several players who he has probably barely interacted with in his life. I can't imagine they share the same reverance and comradierie as he and Cedi shared, for example. Love now starts, good for him, but he's essentially the fifth option. He's been okay, but his three remains cold. I don't know if Heat fans scapegoat him, but there's probably not a lot love there. He's now on a worse team than he was. He doesn't have a legacy in Miami and never will.

He will have the memory of that time he started for the Heat. That time they exited the playoffs. That time the Cleveland Cavaliers made it further than him. And while he sits on the bench at the end of this season, contemplating his decision, I wonder if he'll feel a tinge of regret? Or
does that regret come later? Beyond this season, after retirement? He'll be remembered in Cleveland, the 2016 championship and that era will linger, but his departure will be remembered as a haphazard impulsive display. Or even worse for him...

Is it remembered at all?

I think he may just want another contract before hanging it up. K-Love without his jumper would be lucky to get vet minimum offers. Sometimes these older guys cannot cope with being near the end of their career and will seek out opportunities to prove they are better on the court than being a veteran presence on the bench.

I honestly would not be surprised if he were to come back on a vet minimum deal in free agency if his shot does not come back this season. He can attempt to get it right during the off-season and then maybe we can see if he can give 10-15 minutes or fill in when there is injuries.

Based on his play, he will be lucky to get the minimum.

Well said.

He had the opportunity to be a part of two different good Cavs eras. A first.

Not that his legacy in Cleveland needed to be cemented, but it would have made that legacy so much more meaningful.

He would have staked his claim to being the new Mr. Cavalier.

Alas.

Boy, it would be a real bummer for him if the Cavs won it all this year.

This guy is so cooked.

Now shooting less than 30% from 3 with Miami.
Yeah they lost to the Knicks even as Randle left early with an injury. Another horrible shooting night for Love. He even started 0-4. Heat fans on their subreddit are rightfully tired of the bricks.
