You can’t invite yourself to the Olympics! You have to be extended an invite….Did he accept an invite, or invite himself?

I dunno. Portland is essentially a third world country at this point. I wouldn't go there for anything.
If his heart is into it then when did he come into camp completely out of shape

If you make him do everything team related (walkthroughs, film sessions, meeting with trainers etc) and then every game park his ass at the end of the bench and only give him 2-3 minutes of just garbage time every other game……he and his agent will be kicking in Koby’s office door asking for a buyout.I think we're at the point where Kevin needs to at least get on the court and give some productive minutes off the bench in order to get a contender to commit a roster spot to him.
In any event, there's no way the Cavs should wave him and pay him $60M to play for another team. In terms of games actually played, he's been the highest paid player in NBA over the course of his extension. If Schwartz wants to threaten the F.O. with keeping his other clients away from the Cavs, after Drummond and Love, he's doing us a favor as far as I'm concerned. This is absurd.
I do still think that a buyout is likely after the next deadline. He'll have been paid most of his salary for this season at that point, he'll get two post seasons out of one buyout, and due to the prorata rules, most of the money will come off of the amount owed his last year.
Gilbert Arenas had a disgraceful end to his career. He should just retire.
Has there been such a bad ending for a champion All-NBA caliber player?
There have been injuries, bad fits, substance abuse and freak accidents ending careers.
But has there recently been an example of such a player quitting the game without retiring while bilking his team for the max?
Certainly physical decline gets most guys.Gilbert Arenas had a disgraceful end to his career.
Shawn Kemp got fat.
Steve Kerr said recently that boxing out is a lost skill in the league. With Markkanen's drop-off in rebounding, maybe Love can help him with that. Since he's going to stay around, it will be imperative for him to work with the new young bigs. At the very least, he can teach them some tactics. Love may never lead a team well, but one hopes he can model skills for guys who play PF and C.I'll reiterate a point I made a few months ago. Say whatever you want to say about Kevin Love. BUT he is without a doubt one of the best technicians in the league when it comes to boxing out and getting position for rebounds. He has never been the longest, the strongest, or any kind of a jumper. He gets boards by being smart about his position, his center of gravity. He gets boards by being smart about it and by expending effort at just the right moments.
We have some physically talented bigs who seem to lack fundamental skills when it comes to boxing out and getting into position for rebounds, and if Love can in any way, shape or form mentor those guys and improve their rebounding even by a notch to two, he'll be worth his weight in gold. Not worth what he's been getting paid by any means, but he could definitely add some value.
Hopefully this happens. Plus boxing out should not be an individual thing, it has a team-work component if teams are doing it right. Get your three front line guys sealing off the paint together on a regular basis and everybody's numbers go up.Steve Kerr said recently that boxing out is a lost skill in the league.
