I agree that SGA and Sexton would be a great backward pairing. That said, I don’t believe the clippers would be willing to trade him. You have to inquire obviously.
Correct, they absolutely wouldn't. They wouldn't even include him in talks around Anthony Davis--granted, they feared Davis would potentially leave in a year.

SGA didn't want to be here last year. Why would we trade for someone who doesn't want to be here? I don't want guys who don't want to be here. So I am glad they won't trade him to us. When your trying to build a culture its key to have players that want to be here and buy into the culture.

Love would fit in well with the Celtics young core and not take minutes away from any of their promising players. The Celtics should actually try to get rid of Hayward and reset their culture before free agency. Rozier said he didn't want to come back if Hayward and Kyrie were there. I wouldn't risk Rozier playing on the qualifying offer or getting a offer sheet that is hard to match.

They have 3 picks in this year's draft and the Memphis pick next year. They might be able to build a better team by moving some of those assets for Love or another star now then going after their needs in free agency.

If the Celtics trade for Love they could still have a max slot. They would have to not resign Horford. It would have to be Hayward for Love. Then they need Rozier to sit tight and not sign a offer sheet so they can take advantage of his 9 million cap hold.

Boston certainly has the draft assets & young talent to pull off a trade for Kevin Love. One of the big questions I have is would they insist on the Cavs taking back Gordon Hayward‘s contract and, if not, can a deal still be struck?

You could say SGA didn’t want to be anywhere, but LA since that was the only place he worked out and his agent, very clearly, steered him to the Clippers. As we all know, this is a business and SGA doesn’t have a no-trade clause. Still, if they weren’t going to trade him for Anthony Davis, there is no way they trade him for Kevin Love. I would still be very interested in that 2021 unprotected Miami pick.

Might be worthy of debating value situations as it pertains to Kevin Love, but I think the idea that Altman is shopping him now is less likely by comparison to the possibility Griffin calling offering shit contracts and #4 to Coby for Love.

No. Resigning KLove was a business decision not a basketball one. For the common fan KLove is a big name and he sells tickets. Ownership and Front Office knew we wouldn't be contending once LBJ left despite that they said. But locking in KLove being able to flip or not he still puts butts in the seat cause of his name.

At the end of the day this is still a business and keeping him was the right move short term. Even if they are unable to deal him its not hurting us because FA don't come to CLE and he has name value for the average fan.

You think Kevin love is bringing in 25-30M in ticket sales a year? Those seats didn’t seem that full last year.

Who knows? Either way hes a big name who average fans recognize and you need for marketability. Gotta have a name to draw the fans in. Hes multi time all star and won a championship with us. For the common fan he is a draw to go to the game vs not going.

Kevin Love causes this team to play a HELL of a lot better when he's on the floor. So, ticket sales improve if we win. It is a simple equation. We win games, fans show up.

I've stated to various folks, his speaking on mental health gives this franchise visibility in a lot of non-basketball related area's. He's a positive person to have on your squad for VARIOUS reasons. You don't move him unless it is a clear win for the franchise in a big way.

On the topic of awful Kevin Love trade rumors:

So, basically, we trade Kevin Love and move down 5 spots, while getting back just the #12 pick?!? Koby Altman is getting fired if he makes that trade.

The Cavs would need to also be acquiring a 2020 unprotected first round pick and/or Miles Bridges to really even consider that type of deal.

Here’s a much more reasonable deal:

ATL: #5 pick
CHA: Kevin Love & #17 pick
CLE: #8 pick, #12 pick, Miles Bridges, 2020 unprotected 1st (from CHA), increased protection on 2020 1st owed to Atlanta, & necessary cap filler

Yes, I'm sure "Basketball Rehab," an account with 3K followers, is breaking all sorts of trade rumors. C'mon people.

Trading the #5 pick should alone land us #10 and #12. Including Kevin Love has to be worth at least something, right?

That idiotic "deal" has Atlanta trading #10 for #5. Fails the LOL test.

Yikes. Take on salary from Charlotte and give up Kevin Love. I just don't see it.

Your scenario is better, but also far from ideal.

Why bother with Atlanta in any Love to Charlotte scenario? Get Bridges, #12, and a future pick.

Charlotte cannot trade 19 and 20 unless they trade us draft rights and not a pick.

why on earth would the cavs do this trade? Not your idea, but the rumored trade. TBH, I would want 10 and 12 for Love straight up.
