Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

I wonder how tied to Agbaji they are if Dieng was their primary target. Jalen Williams might have been their backup and Agbaji their third choice.

Maybe Agbaji could be the asset we attach to go after a SF.

I think Okoro would be used in a deal before Agbaji. They really seem to like Agbajis shooting. And we do need floor spacing badly.

A finished product…

He’s a guy who wasn’t even a first rounder last year. No court vision. Can’t create his own shot.

Great pick Koby. Was Jiri Welsh Jr not available?
Jalen Williams wasn't a first rounder last year
Tari Eason wasn't a first rounder last year
Johnny Davis wasn't considered a first rounder last year.
Dalen Terry wasn't a first rounder last year.
Branham wasn't considered a first rounder as recently as January.

Make a better argument please.

Okoro probably doesn't have close to the value that Agbaji does. Assuming we get a SF that can shoot, the floor spacing becomes easier.

None of those guys are seniors.

I and others did not think Altman would use all his picks in the draft, but he did. I'm very interested to see what he does to the roster.

I’m confused why with a roster in need of a wing player Koby passed up on players like Ron Harper Jr, Scottie Pippin Jr etc to use our our second rounders on draft and stash players!

Maybe he's just joking. Or not.

Koby also didn't attack the UDFA market either to try to secure these players either. This is something I've criticized Koby for since the start of the rebuild. He is refusing to use avenues that he could be used to build depth. 2nd round picks and UDFA can hit even if it's a lower percentage but you won't have a chance if you don't use them.

I thought after hitting on Wade that they would attack the UDFA hard each year after that and they haven't. When you can just buy 2nd round picks, its very low risk avenue to get player to develop.

How many developmental minutes have been wasted that could have been given to a good backup PG prospect?

He can’t, even if he wanted to.

We don’t have the roster spots and these dudes want to go somewhere that gives them a chance at a minimum contract or a two-way. That’s not going to be Cleveland.

Also, Koby of all people has been great with UDFA’s. Stevens and Wade are both rotation pieces from nowhere.

Mobley will go on a two way spot but we could have another 2 way spot open. Also you can go after guys with exhibition 10 contracts and that at least pays them more than a regular summer league spot. There are 20 roster spots for camp which you can also promise to a player. Guys surprise in summer league and in camp that can result in rethinking two way contracts and 15 man roster spots.

We saved those roster spots for free agency last year and came up with nothing so that was a double whammy.

Wade and Stevens were some of the earliest two way contract that Koby has given out. He went after them. He didn't do that last year and doesn't seem to have done it this year.

I completely agree that we can get some guys in here for Summer League and camp.

However, the top undrafted guys think they are roster or two-way bound. Guys like Harper Jr. are going to pick a team they think they can make.

Mobley being drafted means we didn't have to secure him with anything at the moment. We could have offered a guy a two way contract and reevaluated roster spots and two way contracts at the start of the season. Mobley might ultimately end up on a two way contract but using a 2nd round pick gives us the luxury that he is under team control.

Other teams give UDFA two ways contracts right after the draft then reevaluate them at the start of the season. I'm sure there is some extra money from signing a two way but there isn't any length you have to keep a guy on a two way.

Sure, but currently aren’t both of our two-way contracts spoken for?

Even if they are, the Cavs can just move one or both onto the 20 man offseason roster. It's like when the Cavs were shifting players between two way and the 15 man roster before the play in games.

Harper Jr and Pippen Jr both signed with the Lakers right after the draft! We should have used one or two of our second rounders on them.
