Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

Changing the topic somewhat as I'm sick of the non-stop rant over the Donovan Mitchell trade...

IMO part of this team under-performing in the finals goes all the way back to Koby Altman lowering the bar on expectations. Altman constantly extends the runway to contention with his statements, he constantly lowers the standard of expectations for how much and how soon this team can be expected to contend. He is the one setting the tone for these players being content with getting their asses kicked because "inexperience". Altman has inferred that this season was a success just because we got to the playoffs, he's got zero expectations of actually winning a series because our baby boys are just too damn wet behind the ears. JBB picks right up on that and he coached like that, and that attitude of low expectations and zero pressure goes right through to the comments from Mobley and Garland after their ass whuppin. They seem WAY too at ease with how shitty they played, because they always knew all along that just getting to the playoffs was all Altman and JBB expected out of them. It's all good, don't want to upset anyone by putting any pressure or expectations on them, God forbid. This attitude came right from the top.
 
The fact they seem intent on keeping JB let's me know this front office is dumb as shit and probably lucked into most of the good moves they made.

The argument for keeping JB is he's still learning and growing (which I don't buy because he's as terrible now as he's always been.) But if we go with that argument, when the Cavs traded for Mitchell they put themselves on the clock. They don't have time for a coach who's slowly learning and growing on the job. If they don't win big next year (ECF) then they're going to have to trade Mitchell for pennies on the dollar.

these guys are claiming that this koby altman character is going to run the same team back which means another season with a one-legged Ricky Rubio to go along with 5ppg Dean Wade as the number 7 and 8 off the bench after whoever...if anyone...replaces the soon-to-be departed Caris Levert. and the one dude in the bulldog sweatshirt is also claiming that it was already so bad in Cleveland that they were giving game 5 tickets away for free....the same ¨free¨ that both Kevin Love and Danny Green fleeced the Danny Ainge scapegoat for a combined 10mm.



something tells me that there are going to be a lot of locker room lockers being broken into and moved around next season.....


 
Don't worry. Next year Mobley wi!l improve. Garland will be more consistent. Diop and Travers will fill holes. Wade will be healthy. ............

It seems like Koby is fine with the incremental progress and that's the pace they want to take but that seems counter to making the Mitchell trade. I'm feeling he might be coming too attached to his players on the roster and staff.

The odd thing that Jason Lloyd said on UCSS is that the Cavs just keep adding staff and not firing anyone. Basically he said at the teams practices facility that there is no parking left when there use to be ample parking before, they just keep adding staff.

I would agree with the first part..however I would have loved to have heard someone ask him that since he said at the trade deadline he wanted to see what he had in terms of the bench players if he stands by that NOW.
There is no way he could be satisfied with what was on display. He has to upgrade that bench,,he needs shooters and physical players, which are not on this team. Does mean he has to jettison everyone? No, but at least 3 of those guys need to go.
Oh and I don't see what impact all those cooks have in the kitchen..soup boiling over, meat and veggies undercooked ...yada yada..you need all those assistants ???

I like what he did and would still do the Mitchell trade five times over too. I'm hoping his comments on shooting were taken out of context or poor wording.

No draft picks?? Maybe you should look at that a little more close.
I have seen enough teams do things when it appeared they were handcuffed. Even prior Cavs teams have done things when it was said they couldn't.
