Koby Altman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Obviously a huge rocky start for Koby with LeBron already dreaming of LA and Kyrie being Kyrie, but....

Past 14 months:
  • George Hill and parts traded for 2022 MIL 1st + Henson/Delly
  • Korver to Utah for Burks and 2nds
  • Burks traded to HOU for 2019 HOU 1st(became Windler) and a 2022 HOU 2nd + Knight from HOU and Shump to SAC
  • 2nds from Korver deal to DET for 1st that became KPJ
  • Henson/Knight/2023 2nd for Drummond
  • Cedi and Nance both signed to reasonable extensions
That's a pretty decent stretch of transactions

Now imagine if, in addition to that solid work, we'd also had some lottery ball luck in the past two drafts.

To be clear, I'm not bronzing him or even close to calling him a great GM yet. But I see a sequence of positive moves over the last 14 months that should give fans hope that the guy is not clueless when it comes to assett management, trades, and player evaluation. Really wish we'd have seen Windler already as well.

Did I just go back in time?

So the Cavs now have all sorts of guard prospects and veteran bigs. I really don't count Love as part of the future, as he will be awful by the time we compete again.

But we really need to land an elite SF/PF prospect in the draft in the next few years. Someone 6'7"+ who can facilitate offense and play D. Not just a 3+D, but a playmaking wing.

I don't see many of these in the upcoming draft. Wiseman is a unique big that you'd gladly draft. But not many playmaking wings at the top.

I think if they can secure a playmaking SF, it will elevate the roster and make it more cohesive.

Haliburton could easily play wing, albeit SG/SF

Toppin could be an interesting PF that can shoot and pass a bit, not sure of his defense

Think this trade may rule out Okongwu/Wiseman

Think we need to draft someone who has had at least 2-3 of college. Last thing we need is another 20 year old

Okoro. Best defensive wing in the draft with a great offensive mind.

We should be celebrating the Drummond trade. How many trades has the Cavs franchise ever made
that had a realistic chance to be a home run and make the team noticeably better for several
seasons? Sure that's the best case scenario but I'm sporting my Wine & Gold colored glasses
and looking for some fun basketball from our team with a big man who can stem the glut
of uncontested forays into the paint.

Yep. You add talent when you get the chance. This was so low risk. People are acting like he is Bynum. He is still the best rebounder in the league, and is an upgrade at center no matter what.

I think we are lucky his stock is so low. People are are asking the wrong question IMO. You should not be asking why the Pistons are so bad with him, or if you can win with a traditional center. The question should be does Drummond have to be our franchise cornerstone/ guy to build around. That was his burden in detroit, and it won't be here.
