carmelo makes shots to win games. Lebron does not. Lebron has not made a single shot to win one measley game this year. and he did not make any game winning shots last year. and none the year before that. he is oh for his career. he avoided any such embarassing stats by not making any game winning shots in college. heck, he didn't even go to college. but he went to high school, where he made exactly "zero" game winners. like an akron. zip. so why should we expect a player who has never made a game winning basket to suddenly start winning close games against teams like the blazers or the lakers?

Yeah Lebron made no game winning shots in high school.....but I'm pretty sure he didn't miss any either. He was 103-6 in high school. That said, he played in the Roundball Classic All Star game after his senior season and hit the game winner leading the West to 120-119 victory with 28 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Burt Graeff wrote this yesterday - "There is a flaw in piling on James for not hitting a buzzer-beater: In less than 2½ seasons, he has had four opportunities in 194 games. Not 20, not 15, not 10. Four."

So he's made 1 out of 5 since he was FOURTEEN. How many games has he rallied teams to victory in the 4th and not needed a game winner? Remember, he started this season at 20 years old....I'm not ready to panic about him not being clutch just yet.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

My god, Jordan did not become a clutch player until he entered the NBA at 22. Sure, he hit a clutch shot to help North Carolina win the NCAA title in 1982, but he wasn't clutch until he was around 22, LeBron has just turned 21.

Plus LeBron was never in that situation at High School because his team was probably winning by 20-50 points every game.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

From BW today -

Clutch James
How James performs when the pressure is on in crunch time has been an issue recently. He has never hit a game-winning shot, while a contemporary like Carmelo Anthony has already made five. Actually, James has made two buzzer-beating shots to send games into overtime, both on 3-pointers last season against the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls. Also, 22 percent of James' shots are taken with four seconds or less on the shot clock, when the pressure is on, and he makes 46 percent of those shots.
James averages 6.8 points in the fourth quarter, one of the NBA leaders. In the last five minutes with neither team leading by more than five-- aka crunch time -- James averages about four points and shoots 49 percent, both near the top of the league.

This is the 1st thing I thought of. They are going to want revenge from that last game.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

The Cavs can win this one. If the fans cannot believe in a Cavalier victory, can we blame the players for not believing?

I feel the Cavs have the chance to win every game. Even if theyre not favored to win.We gotta believe in whats possible, not probable.

So you think the Cavs will continue to lose? Go ahead and talk about all the injuries we have now. Talk about the losing streak. Talk about stats all you want, and make a very intellectual argument why the Cavs will lose.

I will still believe.

And if the Cavs lose you can label me 'wrong' , but i will believe in the team no matter what. Its only the game of basketball. Id rather be called 'wrong' than a 'doubter'.....

To believe or not to believe, that is the question.....even in the face of adversity.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

Z is playing, Drew is questionable.
Jones may be coming of the bench.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

is this on tv? Cuz i guess espn is showing Duke and WUAB is showing south beach or something?

Edit:nvm it's on at 9.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

Noone could ever question the toughness and loyalty of Zydrunas. He again is putting the team first in playing through what must be a most uncomfortable injury. Hopefully this sort of attitude might rub over onto his fellow teammates and lift them to play at a higher intensity level.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

I'm excited for no other reason then it's friggin Wednesday. I played Call of Duty 2 for a good portion of the early evening and am bored outta my mind.

Go Cavs!

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

Greg Buckner looks likey to miss tonights game. He was pretty big against us last start, so this hurts their depleted bench further. No Camby, Nene and Buckner. No excuses for us as we are both in a similar position.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

except we are on the road. we got to win this game, this losing is starting to have the snow ball effect.

Re: Cavs @ Nuggets

Starting lineup appears to be Ilgauskas, Henderson, James, Jones and Snow!
