Cavs are going to need to be good at developing like this. Pretty clear signing semi-proven guys to fill out a roster is not a good route for them.
Lamar looks like a keeper enough given our other option is keeping Denzel Valentine from having to learn a new language.
To be fair, we’re the only thing standing between Lamar Stevens and the same fate

I really want Lamar Stevens to make it as a rotation player. If he is able to make that step up, he fills what is probably our biggest weakness right now, a big wing considering the alternative is Cedi, who is more shooting guard than power forward.

The issue with Stevens is we both love his hustle and Pro body, he doesnt have high skill level, ie shooting, but he is a great defender and a SF body for sure.

Hopefully he can develop that shot, but I love his hustle.

David Nwaba just re-signed for 3/15m (~10 guaranteed) for doing what you just described at 28 with no real sign of a 3 point shot. And Stevens has a more polished in-between game I think (it's been a sec since I have really seen Nwaba, just from my recollection)

There could be a place for Lamar.

I hope he becomes Nwaba, he is 34% from 3. Right now he is nowhere near that, if Lamar can shoot in the mid 30% from 3, he will have a nice NBA career.

Stevens is 100% my type of player. A defensive minded, high IQ wing with good physical attributes and little to no shot. Very much why I was a big of Nwaba actually

I like Stevens. Unfortunately for him he is essentially the same player as Okoro and it’s hard to invest in 2 guys who bring the same thing when that thing isn’t scoring.

No inestment besides time in Lamar though. I agree he is a poor man's Okoro, but we didnt use a draft pick, he is making league min, he really no investment in Stevens. Right now there are 3 or 4 people who would get cut before Stevens.

he is a poor man's okoro. And if okoro were to get hurt we have somewhat of a replacement and as you said, at no investment

Yeah, keep seeing if he can develop a shot. He is a 3 away from being a rotation player IMO

Llove me some Llamar. I love rooting for guys that are pure hustle even if they lack elite skills in some areas, like Delly. He's the perfect guy to have at the end of the bench because you know he is playing tough D in practice, and he's a guy who coach can put in to send a message if someone is doggin it.

I'd like to see JB commit to pulling guys for lazy D this year. He has enough defensive players to accomplish it

You once told me that you think Lamar has the nicest D on the team. Is that still true?
