*waiting*Also, if Markk scores more than 25 points in a game during the next week, I will change my avatar to that of a famous Finn.
*waiting*Also, if Markk scores more than 25 points in a game during the next week, I will change my avatar to that of a famous Finn.
The former President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, and Conan O'Brian, who have a long history and a place in obscure Finnish culture of the late 2000s.*waiting*
Nordic history.Gents, make sure you find yourself a woman who loves you the way @Sebastian loves Swedish military history.
Danish Co-sign on this oneNordic history.
It just so happens Sweden's last period as a great power coincides with my professional focus on Napoleonic History and overlaps.
Finland's military history is far more interesting from 1917 on (despite Sweden nearly beating France and China to the punch and becoming the fourth nuclear power).
So, for our Finnish friends, a bonus gift:
I thought Conan was Irish...
I'd Like to see Lauri get more defensive rebounds but not for the reason that Love gets so many.Marky has now hit 18 of his last 38 from deep, or 47.4%. He's found his outside stroke. He's also getting better at recognizing when he has a 6'5" guy guarding him and sealing him under the rim for easy buckets. He's learning to throw his weight around and get good low position when he has a big size advantage. He's also getting better at seeing when he has a path to the rim and taking it strong to the hole.
He's still only 24 and this is his fifth year in the league. Like Jarett Allen he has a terrific combination of youth and experience. I feel the Cavs got him and Allen at the perfect time in their careers - right when they're about to take off. With the stability of the same coach and same corp group of players for the next several years the structure is in place for both of them to attain new heights.
I think Lauri can become a Kevin Love in his prime type of player - deadly from the 3-point line and also able to post up and score consistently over smaller defenders. Markkanen is 3" taller than Love so he has the potential to be even better in the paint, although Love was the master of the little jump hook and a combination of pump fakes and up-and-under moves.
I also think Markkanen can be a better driver than Love due to being bigger, quicker, and having a better jump. And he's already a better defender, by a lot.
The one thing I'm not seeing from Lauri is the passing ability; Love is averaging twice as many assists per minute. Lauri is more of a terminator; he takes the shot if he has it and if not just hands the ball back to Garland.
He's also not close to being the rebounder Love is. Kevin is getting twice as many defensive boards per minute as Lauri.
So Lauri hopefully will improve his passing and rebounding skills over the next few years, but his ability to score from deep, from the paint, and from the free throw line is really coming together after a rocky start to the season. As he gets more and more comfortable with this group of players his game should improve even more.
By next season the foursome of Garland, Marky, Allen, and Mobley should humming like a well-oiled machine.

I hate and love to watch Derozan (I mean come on he is fun to watch but pls not against Cavs and Lauri I didn't deserve this as Lauristan!). He just had to ruin Lauri's best scoring night for the season going off like that and give Bulls a win. Well ok we'll be back. Next time it will be no joke.
