Lonzo Ball

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Damn Lavar just said if you're struggling financially, you can't make it big.
The dude better use that shoe money to fix and clean his damn teeth.

So no comment on this comment that other have referred to from Lavar:

“Realistically you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” LaVar Ball said.

And that's basically the only racist thing about this whole subject.

I really feel sorry for the kids getting pimped out like this. they basically have to all be multiple all stars to live up to the hype which is unrealistic. and they will have a target on their back from the moment they enter the league from all the vets sick of LaVar and his yapping

If you spend $495 on basketball shoes, you either have too much money, or fucked-up priorities.

If I'm paying five hundred dollars for a pair of shoes, they better fly me to China so I can personally watch the children making them.

Other than that that whole first part you brought up is just shit talking. Like seriously it's just talk.

And why is shit-talking something that he shouldn't be blasted for? Again, the guy is deliberately putting himself out there and developing a public persona for the purpose of making money. He wants people to listen to the shit he's talking, judge him, and then buy the $495 shoe because his public persona as an outrageous shit-talker is so cool.

That's not surprising since there's always been a crab mentality in our community (I am obviously black) and you can feel the jealousy and hate in a lot of responses towards Lavar especially from black folks. Also the Cam Newton reference I brought up speaks for itself.

How in the world was that "obvious"? I honestly thought you were white. And I rattled off a bunch of white people who were absolutely blasted for saying and doing dumb-ass things, so Cam Newton isn't the argument ender you apparently think he was.

You think it's just that he's black that people are questioning what he's doing with his kids, etc.? Ever heard of Todd Marinovich, and how he was perceived while in college and leading up to his draft? A lot of parallels in how that relationship was perceived by the public even though his father didn't do the same level of "shit-talking". And he was about the ultimate white guy.

White parents get put through the ringer for their decision making on social media constantly. It's not a race thing anymore.

This happens literally daily. Any time a parent makes a mis-step and their kid dies or gets injured in any kind of public way, they get fucked on publicly for it. Their grief or embarrassment isn't taken into consideration...they just get thrashed on social media for everything they've ever done. Kid abducted while playing in the backyard by himself? Shit parent. Kid fell into a pit of painted dogs or gorilla pen? Shit parent. Kid bullied at school and killed themselves? Probably not doing enough at home. This happens to white parents and they get put through the ringer all the time. These people aren't in entertainment.

Any prominent person that is parenting their kid in the limelight gets trashed for their actions and inactions constantly. Look at the Scientologists who don't give their kids meds (Travolta), look at the other dads (like Marinovich and Connor Cook) who have been chastised for being fucks, and every white reality show parent who has been put through the ringer for their actions before and after the show.

I didn't say the only reason people are questioning what he's doing is because he's black. I said he is a loud talking black man who rubs people the wrong way and will not get the benefit of the doubt no matter what he says. Look at a lot of what people are saying. All of the I wish he would just shut up people want to silence him but all he's doing is trying to promote and build their family brand. I get that people don't like the way he's doing it. That's not the issue. People didn't like how LeBron got on and put all his friends on with him. That comes with the territory when you are black and you get put on people want you to conform and act a certain way like there's some blueprint to success. There are many ways to accomplish what he's trying to accomplish. He doesn't have to follow a trend and copy what someone else did. Before LeBron what athlete or family do you know who build their brand their way and put their own people on? My point is that if people don't like what he's doing and are so sure that he's going to flame out than let him. Why do people feel the need to silence him like everyone has to follow the same rules to achieve success. That's why I brought up him being black and that's why I mentioned Cam Newton. A lot of the people who don't like Cam Newton because he dances and smiles are real quick to tell you who or what he should act like. They're real quick to tell you how Cam should act like a real FQB like Brady or Rodgers like that's the only way to play the game. Lavar doesn't owe shit to anybody but his kids and people refuse to look past what he's doing to see that it's for his kids because they don't like the way he's doing it.

Let them live. I already said he's said some dumb ass shit and the people who felt like he offended him have already addressed it. He's a grown man. he can handle his own business. There seems to be this resistance against him because he wants his family to step out of the box and do it their way. There's always going to be resistance when you go against the grain but I know all of the push back isn't just because he talks a lot of shit. It's partly because when black folks get put on people want to put them in a box like we all need to act the same way.

Watch this video and listen to what Lonzo is saying. He's saying the same shit Lavar has been saying except he's doing it without yelling or throwing in some dumb shit. People hate Lavar so much that they refuse to believe that Lonzo is even ok with what they are doing. I bet most of the people who watch this think Lonzo is brainwashed or he's just doing this because he's father told him to. Again they lost the benefit of the doubt because people don't like the way they are doing it. Tough shit. Let them live.

I did look at what a lot of people are saying, and the only one who are bringing race into this are those who are defending the guy -- like being black is an excuse for being an asshat. It's not.

It comes with the territory when you are human
. I have absolutely zero doubt that if the Kardashians were black, you'd be ranting about how the only reason so many people hate/mock them is because they are black.

What the hell does any of that have to do with being black? Joe Namath was absolutely hated by a lot of sport fans because of the whole "Broadway Joe" persona. A lot of sports fans dislike showboating, and always have regardless of race. People blasted whitey Manziel long before he flamed out in the pros because they didn't like his whole party persona in college. I also mentioned Marinovich, who you're probably too young to remember, but the public reaction to him and his dad (in particular) was along the same lines as the reaction to Ball.

Tough shit. Let them live.

Who is saying they can't live? Or do you really mean "why can't people just leave them alone?" Because the answer to that is easy -- They don't want to be left alone.

Joe Namath did exactly what I said Lavar did. He went against the grain. He didn't conform and people didn't like it. Also comparing Lavar to a drug addict and domestic abuser like Johnny? Try and find someone who hasn't committed any crimes which Lavar hasn't. Don't compare him to a criminal because he isn't one. I'll give you Joe Namath but if you read what I wrote than you would know why I said Lavar is receiving some of his backlash not all of it. Also did you watch that video and what do you think of it?

I'm kind of interested to see how it plays out. I always approve of people being entrepreneurial and building something for themselves rather than being beholden to someone else. If Lonzo Ball was adequately educated on this whole thing and if he really does wholeheartedly endorse the idea, then whether or not his father is an asshole, it could be a great opportunity for him.

The thing is, Lonzo Ball is really betting on himself becoming a huge star on the level of a LeBron, Durant, Curry, etc. That's the only way this Big Baller Brand has any chance of making anywhere near the kind of money he would have made with someone like Nike. And even then he still probably wouldn't. Is ownership more important to him than the money he is probably losing by going through with this? Maybe. I don't know the kid.

The other part of the issue, though, is the father. Is he making sure that Lonzo knows he is most likely leaving millions on the table? I very much doubt it. While I don't necessarily hate the idea of this brand, just from hearing Lavar Ball talk, it really seems like he is just trying to cash in on his kids. Telling Nike to "give me a billion dollars" and "pay me $100 million a year for 10 years". It doesn't sound like a family operation in his mind. He doesn't sound like a father.

He sounds like an idiot when he runs his mouth, but I don't really care about that. That's probably his plan to get anyone to pay attention to his brand. Amateurish, but it's free publicity.

The fact is that he is likely costing his kids, or at least Lonzo, a lot of money, and I question whether they are fully aware of that, simply because it seems like Dad in it for himself. Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Here's what I think happened. This dad (who as a human is a loud, obnoxious asshole) decided to put everything he had financially into his sons. He is trying so hard to build a brand (which is literally one of the dumbest names and the worst branding... I mean, there's already 3 B's in the logo, why does there need to be a 3 in there? And come on, Big Baller Brand? That name just screams a guy who wants to appeal to a more... Let's say 'urban' clientele) that you can tell is just a joke. And what I'm assuming is they're in a ton of debt, but as most dad's he's holding this false bravado to the public when inside he's just shitting himself because he knows that if his son doesn't get signed by a real brand and the other two are dude, he is personally in trouble because they'd have to use a ton of Lonzo's contract.

Now, it's not the ugliest shoe, but it's essentially a ripoff of multiple different shoes. They put in fake boost cushioning, stole the upper of the Kobe 8, and chose to use a ton of synthetic materials for the prototype. It takes a TON of research and development, production costs, ect to get a shoe developed. And to charge $500 without giving real premium materials (leather, primeknit, boost, zoom, metallic eyelets, ect), it means you're sunk or think your name is worth so much, people would be willing to pay it. The only basketball sneakers I've seen at retail for that price are the KAWS X Jorans and the Just Don Jordans. And those are collectable/re-sellable.

The bravado is almost certainly based off fear as he seems to be scrambling to find someone to take on his debts. I almost feel bad for him, but he's just a giant piece of shit who is trying to get famous the Kardashian way. I just don't see this succeeding and assume he's going to be signed by a Chinese company. If he really believed in the brand, he wouldn't be upselling it as much as he is.

Fuck Lavar Ball.
