However as rastamon87 said at 11:44 pm on 6/8. *. I would love to see delly on the coaching staff sooner. My take, which rastamon87 did not say, would be as HC.

I kind of doubt Delly would want to coach in the NBA, he’s always struck me as someone who would just want to live his life in his home country and see his family grow up there
 
Maybe the Australian league is very weak, but I'm stunned that as wretched as Delly has been the past few years that anyone would sign him to a 3 year deal. Perhaps it's like an NFL deal and the 3 years are in name only, but Delly has looked like he's 30 going on 50.
 
I heard his college coach Randy Bennett on the local radio when Delly made the Cavs roster, talking about how he let Delly run practices the last year at Saint Mary's. Then when playing in the Portsmouth pre-draft showcase, he had dozens of draft hopefuls who never met him before gathered around, listening to how half court sets can be run better.

That Portsmouth showing led the Cavs scouts, including Big Z in his short run in the front office, to push hard for an aggressive undrafted free agent contract.

If he doesn't eventually coach, it's a loss to basketball. I can't blame the guy for wanting a few more years as a player... you don't get your athletic prime back.
 
I saw Delly has a clause that allows him to sign with a NBA team when free agency opens up. I guess he kept the door open if some NBA wants him. I figure his agent has gauge the interest of the league and probably told him to sign with the Melbourne team.

I wonder if they Cavs have said they are moving on to him already.
 
Sucks that he isn't going around again with the Cavs but it's gonna be fun to watch him back home for sure.

When Douglar started this thread back in 2013, I had no idea that Delly would become my favorite Cavs player all time. I absolutely love the way this man plays basketball and I was hoping the Cavs would hold the last roster spot for him for as long as he could play.

Since he has an "out" in his Aussie contract to join an NBA team, maybe the Cavs can offer him a spot later, perhaps after the trade deadline.

Let's keep that 2016 Championship alive on the team by keeping Delly, especially since Love may be gone in the next 18 mos. Miami did this for years with Haslem. Who is better for this role than Delly?

delly +6 against the team usa in 22 minutes in australias win, unlucky not to be in double figures because the ball must have been trained/rigged to favor the usa team

he is also unlucky not to have 3 wins in a row against the supposed superstar team because he was +11 in the 2016 olympics but the aussies collapsed whenever he was on the bench

team usa should have brought the lebron, anthony davis, curry, ultimate version of the team to stand a chance against the delly

This isn't even the full story. I watched it live.

So Delly got punched in the eye. The ref tells him he has to go off for treatment. Delly is arguing with the ref, saying nothing happened. Delly's trying to tell the ref he never even got punched--how does the ref know?

So the ref points at Delly's black eye and is basically "Dude, you have a black eye. You need treatment. Walk off the floor."

Delly turns around, SLAMS his fist into his other eye, and turns back to the ref. "That's just how my eyes are! They're both like that. I'm fine!"

im surprised the media didn't try to claim that delly headbutted the germans fist and that he is a dirty player
