MILWAUKEE -- As the bets went around the clubhouse and the Cleveland Indians guessed how many people would show up for their 2007 home opener, 450 miles away from Jacobs Field, pitcher Joe Borowski admitted he was the cruelest.

"I thought it would be like five, maybe 500," Borowski said. "I thought it would be like an American Legion game. I mean come on, less than 24 hours notice? I didn't think anyone would be here."

His teammates for the most part agreed. So imagine the look on their faces when they took the field here Tuesday night and saw Miller Park's first and second decks loaded with baseball fans. Imagine what they were thinking in the third inning, when Brewers officials had to open the outfield bleachers to accommodate even more fans. And imagine the befuddlement when, in the eighth inning, the attendance was officially announced at 19,031.

I only ragged on Milwaukee incase TJ was lingering..but it's apparent that turd has been flushed..:chuckles:

Almost 20 thousand showed up for a team that doesn't play in their city..or hardly ever at all due to the NL AL thing..

I love the picture on ESPN.com "Welcome INDIANS keep snowing" :chuckles: Milwaukee likes the Tribe better than the Brewers

I was very surprised by how great the crowd was. Looked like a fun game to be at. Sounds like the crowd will be a lot smaller today with a lot of snow predicted for the area.

*edit* Nevermind, I just read this... sounds like these are good baseball fans:

Depending on the weather, big crowds are expected for the rest of the series as well. Ten thousand tickets have already been sold for Wednesday night's game and 6,000 for Thursday afternoon. Tuesday, 8,000 fans bought a ticket in the three hours leading up to the game.

If they sweep this series, do they petition to play the rest of their games at Miller Park?

I like this thread better than the other one

Nice article, thanks for posting it.

Man it was great, they were clearly cheering for us.Very good showing,we even had fans who drove from Cleveland to see that game.

Well TJ does have Hafner on both of his fantasy teams. The best team in baseball doesn't mind hosting the junior circuit. It was a great series.

Keep juicing Travis, I need your stats!

Jr circuit that's funny..we have 2 less wins and 1 less loss..

Not to mention the National League is like the Eastern Conference of the NBA...wasn't last years interleague play like 168-5 with the AL stomping the NL? Not to mention the AL has won every all-star game since the Eisenhower administration..

Just wait until October when we are still playing and the Brewers are watching for like the 20th straight postseason.

The Brew Crew is looking pretty good this year, it will be cool to see if they can keep it up.

And TJ, the Brewers dont want it with the Sox, you may have the best record in baseball, but your not the best team, Curt and Josh would destroy the Brewers.

Man Ram and Papi can mash, but the Crew's pitching staff is Simply2Fabulous. Prince Fielder, JJ Hardy, Ricky Weeks, Bill Hall...the core four on offense. We haven't even brought up Ryan Braun, our 3rd baseman of the future. He's currently hitting .366 8hr in AAA. He'll replace our weak platoon of Craig Counsell and Tony Graffinino. Amazingly we still win with that pathetic duo playing 3rd.

Just like the last 25 years of winning right?

are you ****ing kidding me, your in the NL first of, so even if your the best team, its like winning an ugly contest, your still ugly, pitching? you honestly think the Brewers have better pitching then the Sox? REALLY?? YOU REALLY THINK THAT?? Papelbon has 10 saves and is pretty much always lights out, Dice K is decent, Wakefield would have a field day with your undisciplined hitters and Schilling and Beckett would make your heads explode, i wont talk about Tavarez, but he is still better then half of the Brewers staff. And hitters? yea, you got Prince Fielder...we got Manny and Ortiz, pick your poison, then we got JD Drew who has become a threat as well as far as hitting.
