Minor League Week 11 Games Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean, if he performs the way he is for many years to come, absolutely, but he’s still a young kid and anything can happen. I just think you’re a little too quick to classify it…

Well if we have 5 players from a single draft be essentially everyday players, that is a very good draft... We had some drafts in the 2000s were we didn't get a single guy to the pros....

I think a fair amount of us had written Benson off as a poor contact K machine with a lot zip in his shoes and boom in his stick. Well, I am happy to say I think I made a mistake.

He is super hot right now and as mentioned by other posters, moving him t the leadoff spot was a stroke of genius. If he can consistently start tapping into that plus or is it plus-plus power... Lookout might have a quality RF/OF for years to come

Roster spot is needed for 2022 - almost a guaranteed lock at this point. Look out Mercado/Zimmer he is coming after one of your spots....

Read my prior post - I said it could certainly be one of OUR best, but the question was one of the best for any club.

I think I’d cut bait with Zimmer first to make room for Benson.

I definitely didn’t expect him to make the majors. I’d like to see him in AAA soon if there is room for him.

Can he play CF or is he strictly a RF?

I think he is sort of a Daniel (Jet) Johnson in this regard, but would speculate he is a better CFer than Jet is.

Something to keep in mind with Benson too.

The hardest jump to make in the minors is A to AA.
Absolutely!

Bimbo, how is Burns looking? I still can't help but think he's a fast mover and that they may have tempered there aggressiveness to make sure he remains healthy. I'd like to see him move up soon.

A comment was made earlier, comparing Benson with Russell Branyan. I think something to remember about Branyan is that he didn’t really work as hard as he could have when he was in the minors, relying on his natural ability and seemingly figuring that was all he needed. I remember talking with the Bisons’ GM, Mike Buczkowski, after Branyan returned to play in Buffalo in the later years of his career. Mike said Branyan finally realized he needed to work harder at that point, and added that he’d have been much more successful had he worked as hard when coming up through the minors. It seems Benson already has the work ethic that will help him realize his full potential.

High A Lake County is tied 1-1 at Lansing in the top of the 3rd...

Low A Lynchburg leads 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th over visiting Fredericksburg..
