I just Think they are mortgaging Their integrity by catering so much to conors wills and won'ts. Like, I get that Conor is making bank in the short term but they are losing the hardcore fan support they've so masterfully cultivated throughout the past 5-10 years, the guys who will actually watch your cards even if Conor isn't on them. This is part of what killed boxing; instead of maintaining and cultivating an entire healthy and competitive division, they put everything behind a few guys and the moment they either retire or leave for different reasons they are going to be in trouble.

What you've described is a classic issue facing pro wrestling as well.
UFC and WWE both are very much aware that they have a base of hardcore fans that have been supporting for 10+ years (20-30+ years in WWEs case). This is the type of fan that is gonna watch every TV show and every PPV and knows all the undercard fights/storylines etc.
Now... this group of fan is significantly more likely to vocally complain and bitch about the product for a variety of reasons, but they're also more likely to continue watching no matter the quality of what is being put in front of them.
On the other hand, the casual fan - ones that UFC and WWE are so desperate to get - isnt going to complain about the product, they're just going to turn it off and not watch it again.
The sad reality of becoming a diehard fan of anything is once they know you're hooked they no longer have to cater to you anymore, so they don't.
