MLB Lock-Out is Finally Freakin’ Over

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We have to be CLOSE. Get that bonus pool up to 60 million and one more CBT flex in and we are DONE.

Problem isn't the figures for the CBT or bonus pool, its the increases, or lack thereof, by the MLB to this point.

Players want a $65m pool that grows to $85m by the end of the CBA. MLB is offering a flat $40m w/12 team playoff or $60m w/14 team playoff that doesn't increase at all over the CBA. That is a large gap that needs settled still.

Same with the CBT. The MLBPAs wanted year-to-year raises still is $8m off in year 5 from the MLBs last offer. Not as big of a gap there as with the bonus pool, but moving the CBT up by the MLB or down by the MLBPA is like pulling teeth with no novocaine at this point.

Frankie (I'm lazy) will make 23,388.20 an inning this year. How exactly is he getting screwed over?
A CBA determines how a pie of money is split up between players and owners as a whole.

Referencing what one of the richest players in the game makes as a reason why it doesn't matter is short-sighted at best.

You may be one of the only people who read Lindor's post about CBA negotiations and had any reaction regarding his on-field performance or relationship with fans.

Why does it seem like a 'lecture' to you? It's a completely separate issue.
I might be wrong, and often am, but it seemed like his post was directed at fans who were complaining towards players on Twitter for holding up an agreement over an international draft proposal.

It has nothing to do with his on-field performance or fan interaction.

Any statement by a player right now is primarily to negotiate and show support to the union.

The owner of his team seems much more likely to respond to Twitter trolls.

Zero chance Frankie even understands what someone asked him to post on there

Spring Training... in Florida and Arizona or at home stadiums like before the 2020 season started?

I think a 14 team playoff is a done deal now - doesn't seem like they could ever agree on figures with a 12 team model at this point.

IMO the players "accepted" a 14 team playoff model too early and as a result lost some leverage here.

Homestretch - it gets done today. Please.

Seemed like he was explicitly asking people to be educated before crippling multiple country's baseball economy.

A fair request that doesn't require fans with a grudge to lash out at him, IMO.

So now you hate the owners? Interesting that you scorned anyone on here that was critical of Dolan's lack of spending from 2019-21, but now you think they're ruining the game.

Lindor's attitude towards fans, in Cleveland and Queens, has been extremely shitty over the past year, and him lecturing them on Twitter doesn't help.

I never said he sucked, my point was that if his offensive production continues to hover around 100 WRC+, the NY fans aren't going to be as kind as they were to him in Cleveland. I live in New York and their patience is non-existent.
AZ is entitled to his opinion, but it doesn't take a genius to know he would never advocate against any union while naturally despising owners and/or CEO's. My problem with the MLBPA is that it doesn't behave like a union should. The elites like Lindor will demand that owners give up more to provide for the lower paid players and prospects, just don't dip into his ridiculous earnings. Funny that we never heard Lindor say anything like "this number of millions a season is enough for me and my family and I'd like to see any excess costs kept low so that more money can be given to entry level players". At the same time I don't recall any owner or GM saying this is the limit we're prepared to give this FA because we would like to improve those that are on the lower end of the spectrum. There is no good guy in this bullshit. The system is fucked up and those that can take advantage of it are doing so. I wonder how different things would be if the highest paid players weren't representing the MLBPA?

If anybody listens to the media spin from either side then they are fools.

Baseballs biggest money issue is guys like Lindor eating all the players pie until they're over the baseball hill and struggling to hit over the Mendoza. Seems like the owners should be demanding every contract be non guarantee past a certain point in exchange for giving up more pie
