The Indians are in an interesting spot. Unless a miracle happens, the team, as constructed, will not make the playoffs. Unless they make several deals, that isn't going to change. At the same time, they are under pressure from a fan base that is already supporting the team at an all-time low to do something. They also know that the current "window" of contention ends in 2014.
They won't get much for anyone as sellers unless they deal Perez and/or Choo and if they do that, they are hurting next year's team as well.
The best option seems to be to look at players who are locked into contracts beyond this year. That means looking at the following players, to name a few:
- Chase Headley
- Vernon Wells
- Corey Hart
- Hunter Pence
- Matt Garza
- John Lannan
- Wandy Rodriguez
- Rafeal Betancourt
- Nate Schierholtz
- Peter Bourjos
