I like the idea but I really don't think its a necessity especially if we are giving up more assets and picks. Still think we need to add a big.
See, I think a guy who can capably spell Kyrie without having such a massive dropoff in scoring presence is more important than another big guy at this moment. Per 100 possessions, Kyrie has by far the biggest statistical impact on the offensive when he is the floor vs. when he is on the bench. That is partly due to Delly's complete lack of anything resembling a scoring game.
I still think Delly would have a role on the Cavs in certain situations, but they absolutely need to add a guy who can actually play point guard in some stretches and still be a real scoring threat. Right now, the team lacks that player and it shows.
So, this isn't just an incredible story during this long, strange year of the homecoming with the Cavs, it also fills a major void. Throw in that Mo seems to have regained some of the swagger which helped make him a very good player for us and the match seems perfect to me. Contrary to popular belief, Mo's game hasn't really fallen off a cliff in the last four years from Per 36 production standpoint.
He has steadily hung around that 16 points per 36, very close to what he averaged here. His efficiency has dropped a bit over the years, but so has his circumstances, teammates and what is being asked of him. I guess that's also why he's also averaging over 8 assists per 36 this year.
Mo can still play and I think he'd come back here and fit right in immediately, at least on paper.
