Their was all kinds of speculation on how much money the Browns had going into the offseason. From the general concensus we had aorund 27 million. With the signing of Bentley, 6 mil, Joe 2.5 mill, Schaffer 5 mil, Washington 3.5 mill, Zast, cheap we should have around roughly 10 million left for this year. OF course this is saying that the contracts are averaged out per year.

How should we go about spending it???

Since their are still plenty of holes in the defense I think Phil should get a couple of players instead of going after someone real expensive like Lavar Arington. However you dont want to get a couple of players that are just average and wont help the team in a big way.

if we can get a lavar or peterson here i would love it.the problem is their agents are the postons and that means a lot of money and i mean a lot of money will be spent.

That's about it.

How do you put images like that in a post? I tried it once and couldn't do it right.

Tell the Postons we are thinking about cutting Winslow and that should dramatically cut their demands for Arrington and Peterson :)

That would make FUN-RUN hard.... :chuckles:

Do we need to save cap space for signing rookies? If not, then we should go after some vet leadership in the linebacker core, seeing as we will likely go after a young stud in the first round... Haloti Ngata, Chad Greenway, Bobby Carpenter...

Or.. pick up a quickity quick running back to complement Droughns' tough power running.. it seems that we're set at nearly every position in terms of the balance of experience and talent potential...

I thought it was something like 5 million for the rooks ?

Hmm now it might be just me, but don't 1st round picks where we're at usually commaned 3-4 million? Not to mention 2nd rounders being around a million then a few hundred K and so on? How's that enough?

Or is it after we make more June 1st cuts or what?

we are not cutting winslow we just resigned him like a little while after his bike reck... dont think we would just cur him... plus winslow is going to be good, he seems healthy right now, hes a big guy with speed and power, line him up beside heiden thats going to be sweet...

Last years #12 pick got a 5 year 12 million dollar contract with 9 million guaranteed. I would think this years #12 will get closer to 5 years and 15 million. You structure the deal so that he gets rookie minimum base the first season(approximately 300K) and maybe like a 6 million dollar bonus, which is prorated against the cap at 1.2 million a year. So this years #1 would count roughly for 1.5 million vs the cap. The second rounder will probably cost about 800k vs the cap, the third roughly 600k, and then maybe something like 500/400/400/400 for the rest of the draft. So it costs approximately 4.6 to sign all your rookies. But when you add all of those cap hits to the "top 51" salaries on the payroll, it knocks off 7 minsal contracts, meaning the net amount the rookies end up costing is roughly 2.5-2.7 million total vs this years cap.

Sarcasm - A form of wit that is marked by the use of sarcastic language and is intended to make its victim the butt of contempt or ridicule.

And also you can't line Winslow next to Heiden they have to be on opposite sides of the offensive line.
