Monitoring Russell Westbrook’s Clippers tenure…

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Westbrook has literally never won a single playoff series without Durant or Harden as the main star on his team. How is that the record of an all-time great?
And Harden has never won a title...and KD has never won anything without three all stars (Steph, Klay and Draymond) around him.

Kyrie, rose, dame, TP are not better. Kidd and Stockton are debatable. Russ has an MVP and played more than 2 high level years (sorry derrick). I will give you Nash, Steph and CP3.

Would take any point guard in the list you mentioned in their primes over westbrick any day

Prime russ or current russ? I mean id take Dennis Schroeder over current russ. Prime russ is an all timer
Prime Russ was awesome.

I think he could still be productive in the right spot, but he’s the literal antithesis of the type of player that should be playing alongside LeBron.

Supposedly the Lakers have ended any trade talks with the Pacers because they felt their 27 and 29 FRPs were too high a price to pay for Buddy Hield and Myles Turner. That’s insane to me! Lakers are headed for another year out of the playoffs if they don’t reload and put a good lineup around Lebron and AD - they are going to end up wasting the end of Lebron’s career and losing AD in free agency unless they become a contender. From the perspective of defense (Turner) and three point shooting (Hield) this strikes me as about the best deal they could get. If AD and LBJ are healthy and Lebron can turn back time a little in the playoffs that lineup has a chance of contending

Oh well, maybe they figure they will do better elsewhere at the trade deadline. Man what a colossal fuckup it was to trade for Westbrook and let Caruso go in free agency

Two unprotected firsts for two role-players like Turner and Hield would be an unmitigated disaster for the Lakers. Believe it or not, there is a "Laker tax"...the fact that Bogdanovich, who just went for a poo-poo plater when anti-Lakers were baying for a 1st rounder, is obvious.

Russ will gain value over the course of the year and there will be better deals available if the Lakers are in a position to compete.

Disagree that Turner and Hield are just role players. They aren't all-stars but they are high quality players who have been in bad situations. Turner is just 26 years old but has led the league in blocks *twice* while averaging almost 34% from 3 on reasonable volume. That's a rare combo. Hield is 29 and has averaged 16 ppg on almost 40% from 3 for his career, on high volume. Neither have been high volume scorers adept at getting their own shots but they are both very efficient scorers who could thrive next to Lebron as a distributor and AD to distract defenses. Turner would supercharge their defense playing next to AD.

2027 and 2029 are forever away in NBA time. If the Lakers can keep their reputation as a top team and a glamor team they can make up for the loss of FRPs with free agents. But if they continue to crash and burn over the next few years they are going to start to turn into the NY Knicks. They need to make high risk moves to preserve their franchise value. We made a high risk move (not two but three unprotected FRPs plus two pick swaps plus good young players) with the Mitchell trade. The Lakers face even greater urgency than we did. Granted Mitchell is better than Turner+Hield but we gave up more -- and between defense and shooting I would argue that the Turner/Hield combo is just as good as adding an all-star.

"You get it, go!"

LOL. You can't make this shit up. I wonder if the mantra also applies to Austin Reaves and Kendrick Nunn?

Obviously we're unselfish teammates and we want to pass and do things [for our teammates], but at the same time we have to get going as well," Davis said.

I came here to post that. Looks like another season of comedy gold coming up from the Lakers! I especially like when they say letting Westbrook freelance on offense will allow him to kick it out to shooters. What shooters? They have fewer shooters than even last year.

They were so dumb not being willing to trade their 2029 first to get talent in. 2029 is forever away and they’re looking at disaster now

Sometimes when I'm feeling down, I remember that we are still on track to get to watch Westbrook torpedo the Lakers again. And I smile.

Watching Lakers Suns and Lebron has 19 points on 8-9 shooting after 17 minutes of play. And he looks like he’s relaxed and coasting out there. Last year was no fluke, after 20 years he just has the cheat codes on offense now. Still a pleasure to watch

The pleasure for me will be watching him trying to drag Westbrick and Street Clothes through an 82 game regular season and the playoffs (if they make it). Man needs shooters around him and he's got a center who hates playing center and a ball hogging PG who's skills have diminished and who is not reliable from 3. This is what happens when you sign on to a mickey mouse franchise run by a rich girl and her clueless friends instead of a class professional outfit like we have in Cleveland.

Holy shit the Lakers guard play — at the moment I write this the Lakers three top guards, Westbrook, Beverley, and Nunn are a combined 1-19 for 5 points in the middle of the third and the Lakers down 10. Amazing
