NBA Power Rankings

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wouldn't it be sweet if all the Teams in the Central made it to the playoffs this year? I don't see why not.

I'd want Milwaukee in teh first round cuz they have no shot at making it to the second if they can even get to the playoffs.

The Bucks should be number 1

hey i need to get my daily fix from somewhere.....

1 Detroit (1)
13-2 A scheduling oddity has the Pistons off until Friday, five full days between contests. Detroit has to shake any early rust with a trip West to face the Warriors, Clips and Jazz this week.

2 San Antonio (2)
14-3 Note to opposing teams: make the Spurs miss. They're a league best .481 from the field on the season and are 13-0 when shooting better than 45 percent; 1-3 when they don't.

3 Memphis (5)
13-5 The Grizz have gone a full week without allowing more than 75 points. Granted the competition hasn't been the stiffest, they are riding a six-game streak that includes a win at Dallas.

4 Dallas (3)
13-5 It comes as no surprise Dirk is a big key to Dallas' success, but the team is 9-0 this season when he drops at least 28 points. He's registered 30+ in three straight wins.

5 L.A. Clippers (6)
12-5 The Clippers can prove they belong with the big boys by defending their turf in a five-game home stand. Ws over Cavs and Heat is a good start. Knicks, Suns, Pistons await.

6 Phoenix (14)
11-5 Amare who? After Tuesday's 45-point win -- amid a seven-game winning streak -- the Suns are again a top-10 team.

7 Indiana (4)
10-7 Maybe the Pacers are just tired after a five-game West coast swing. They get a day of rest before the Wizards storm into Conseco Thursday.

8 Golden State (9)
12-6 Contests with Phoenix and Detroit this week should show us if the Warriors are for real. Until then, we'll wait to move them any higher.

9 Milwaukee (13)
9-7 It's a good thing the Bucks bolstered their front line before the season. Joe Smith's surgery won't be as crippling with Magloire, Bogut and Gadzuric ably manning the middle.

10 Cleveland (8)
11-6 The Cavs clearly can score and win, but can they get a stop? They're allowing opponents to shoot .467 (the NBA's fourth highest) from the field and a league-high .410 from three.

11 Minnesota (12)
10-6 With Wally manning the scoring -- 22.3 ppg over the last six -- and Eddie G. turning back shots on the other end, the Wolves sit atop the Northwest after taking seven of nine.

12 Denver (7)
10-9 Denver caught a scare at home from the Hawks before embarking on their longest road trip of the young season -- a five-game trip East that starts in Miami on Friday.

13 Miami (15)
10-8 Good news and bad news for Heat fans: Shaq practiced Tuesday, but he's a no-go for the team's lone visit to San Antonio. His return could come as early as this week.

14 Washington (17)
8-8 The Wiz have been alternating wins and losses since Thanksgiving. They alternate home and away games this week, beginning Thursday at Indiana.

15 Chicago (11)
8-8 Getting back above .500 won't be easy with their playmaker, Hinrich, still in a fog after the loss to Dallas.

16 Seattle (27)
8-9 A loss to the Knicks isn't enough to take the lustre off three straight Ws -- including wins over the Cavaliers and Pacers.

17 NO/Okla City (20)
8-9 Lost in the Chris-Paul-for-Rookie-of-the-Year talk is David West, who's hearing Most Improved whispers. His scoring has jumped by nine ppg on .512 shooting.

18 Philadelphia (10)
8-10 Only Portland suffers a larger rebounding deficit than Philly, but help is on the way.

19 L.A. Lakers (25)
8-9 He may be trying to go solo more this season than years past, but Kobe is well versed in finding teammates. With four assists, he'll pass Gail Goodrich for fourth on the Lakers' all-time list.

20 Orlando (16)
7-10 That four-game win streak which propelled Orlando to No. 16 last week is merely a distant memory, a painful reminder of better -- read: healthier -- days.

21 Sacramento (18)
7-11 The Kings have managed only one road win this season, which doesn't bode well considering five of the next seven are away from Arco -- including games at Detroit and San Antonio.

22 Boston (22)
7-10 The Cs chalked up Tuesday's loss as "one of them nights." More of those nights could await this week with games at Oklahoma City, San Antonio and Dallas.

23 New Jersey (19)
7-9 Exactly how is it that a team featuring Jason Kidd, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson is 7-9 on the season and has dropped five of seven?

24 Houston (28)
5-12 No question, T-Mac is the fuel that lifts the Rockets. Houston is 5-1 when McGrady scores 20-plus points, 0-3 when he doesn't, and 0-8 when he doesn't play.

25 New York (26)
6-11 Despite a 6-11 record and me ranking them at No. 25, the Knicks are only 1.5 games back of the Atlantic-leading Sixers.

26 Utah (21)
7-11 The Jazz are yet to play a game decided by three or fewer points. A quick glance at their splits in wins and losses and it's easy to see why.

27 Charlotte (23)
5-13 They've struggled on the road, but the Bobcats have won three straight at home. They can add to the win column with home contests vs. the Nets, Raptors and Nuggets this week.

28 Toronto (30)
3-16 The Raptors were thisclose to a three-game winning streak. That alone is enough for me to lift them from the cellar.

29 Portland (24)
5-12 What hurts worse: Darius Miles' knee, a 45-point spanking by Phoenix or the current five-game skid?

30 Atlanta (29)
2-15 The problem with such a young and talented team is that you have nobody to really shake you out of an awful funk such as the Hawks are mired in right now.
