NBADraft.net says Larry Hughes to Cleveland

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Im still gonna wait for a more respectable source before I start celebrating. But Hughes is gonna look damn sexy in a cavs uni. I think he'll shoot a decent percentage from the floor and from 3point range because of all the open looks he'll be getting. Hughes and LBJ could be one of the top duos in the NBA. I look forward to seeing them develop together(if its true).

We just need to pursue a pg that can shoot and hopefully also one of the big men that can shoot that are on the market as well. If we can sign Hughes, Saras, and Marshall/Radman I would consider it a very succesful offseason. We help improve our defense and become a pretty good shooting team.

after booze, i won't count on it until the ink is dry on the contract..

verbal= non binding.......

Signing Hughes would be in line with better defense to help protect Z, especially when Snow's in, too. If this rumor is true, then I agree: we sign the $5mil/year Lithuanian kid and help Luke Jackson get his stroke back.

Is comparing Hughes' game to Ginobli's game stupid? (2004-05 stats from RealGM)
Ginobli: FG% 47.0, FT% 80.3, 3PT%37.6, A 4.5, R 3.9, S 1.6, PPG 16.0.
Hughes: FG% 43.0, FT% 77.7, 3PT% 28.2, A 6.3, R 4.7, S 2.9, PPG 22.1

The big difference is obviously 3 PT shooting. But I see them as very similar players, able to play defense, team ball, and still create their own shots by going to the hoop. The reason I bring this up: I wonder if Ferry had his sights set on Hughes and had already spoken with him, maybe even just played out the Allen/Redd thing in deference to his new boss.

I am pretty sure we will all log into hoopshype tomorrow and see a published article on Larry Hughe's signing.

NBADraft.net is usually a good source for information.

The only thing I don't like about the article is the Mike Brown statement. That really threw me off.

Ugh..the more I think about how much we could be overpaying him, the more I cringe. It seems that when teams sign players that arent superstar caliber guys to max contract they usually regret it. I hope this doesnt happen to us. Hughes is a great player though. If we can get him to stop being such a shot chucker and if he stays healthy we should be fine.

they have it up on realgm now, but it's link to nbadraft.net..

were talkin cavs at a quarter to 3:00 am in the summer time.. never thought i see the day :chuckles:

Jeez, now I cant sleep. I was about to go to bed then i see the news. Theres too much to think about now to sleep lol

:werd:

I am just sitting here staring at my screen in disbelief. I am not sure what to make out of this situation. Mabey I should go to bed and hope to see a ABJ article on this.

Yeah, but we just signed a player more versitle than Micheal Redd and we saved ourselves 10 million dollars.

here is my line of thinking--

if if "IF" this goes down-- we just made a team that was ahead of us last year much weaker..

the bucks were already behind us- and hell, now that they have JIRI "THE SHOOTERS TOUCH WELSCH" we know they are not going to be a factor..

we are paying him less then milwaukee is paying redd, and he was first team all DEFENSE (thank you lord)

he averaged 1 less point (with arenas and jamison on his squad)

he is a triple double waiting to happen... so it's all good :king:

What i do like about hughes is the guy can guard any 1 or 2 guard in the league. Lebron should be able to cover any small forward out there, so i beleive we can effitively sign sarunas and not worry so much about his defense which is not good. We will definitely have to get shooting at the pg spot now so look for sarunas or d joens to be the guys. My vote goes to sarunas, guy is super clutch and a gamer while d jones pulled a whodinee when teh game was on the line.

Someoen i would lvoe to bring here is vladimir radmonovich. We defintely couldnt net him outright after we are done signing people. However maybe we can pull a sign and trade of drew gooden and av for fortson and radmon. I dont know how interested seatle would be cause they love their bruisers but i think radmon is gone and i would lvoe his services off the bench.

Since you are making one sided but true statements you also forgot he is the same age lol

fortson is a walking technical that does not fill the character criteria that our coach preaches he wants around here..

and why in the hell would we trade AV ?

Agreed. While Fortson can grab a ton of rebounds in virtually no time whatsoever, he also picks up fouls at one of the worst rates I've ever seen. The guy simply cannot stay out on the floor for extended minutes period. AV is a fan favorite and while he lacks some of the brute strength of Fortson, he has a more diverse skill set and I'm definitely against moving AV. He needs to stay.

I take the defense, no doubt. With Hughes and James playing the passing lanes, we should have a lot of fun wathcing Cavalier basketball. I would still rather have a front court with say Dalembert and Haslem over Gooden and Ilgauskas.

Speed, defense, finishers, just need the shooting.
