Judging by our defense, & potentially potent offense. Always take the over. We will be giving up 30 a game.

Should I start Jameis Winston (at ATL) or Cam Newton (at Den)?

Cant find a regular fantasy thread.

Just betting money lines today. (Not betting a lot because I'm new to NFL betting)

In on these to win today:
Cleveland @ Philadelphia
Tampa Bay @ Atlanta
Tennessee v Minnesota
NY Jets v Cincinnati

Good luck everyone!

I historically don't do great on NFL but I'm laying a few picks down today:

Browns +3.5 (I truly feel this is a 50/50 game so I'll take the points. It's nice line has slid to 3.5 from 3 as well. I could certainly see this game coming down to a kick.)

Oakland +3 (same logic as above although I do believe Oakland has superior talent to NO). I really like Derek Carr and believe Oakland should be able to put a lot of points on board.

Tennessee +3 (I think Titans will surprise some people this year and it starts in week 1. Marriota and their stable of RB's will be tough. I'll take the points at home going against a back-up QB in Stephen Hill)

Tampa +3 (call me crazy but I think Tampa competes with Panthers for NFC South this year. Jameis is that good, like or hate him. I'll take the points and I'm expecting a straight up Tampa win honestly).

There is just so much parity in NFL and it truly is "any given Sunday". That's why I tend to take points and look for games I think should be close. Good luck to all!

You never, ever, ever bet the Browns in an opener.

That was just irresponsible Surge!
Yeah, got hammered on the early games, but didn't realize I double entered the TB bet, so I didn't do as bad as I thought.

I'm taking Arizona to cover 9.5 against NE tonight.

NFL is and will continue to be a 50/50 proposition for me. Games are just so difficult to call for multiple reasons IMO:

Actual game time is significantly less than a college game, so "bad" teams actually have a built in neutralizer in regards to hanging around or even winning. Obviously the NFL does not stop the clock after first downs, but they also keep the clock running on most penalties, the clock begins to run when the ball has been placed even if carrier went "out of bounds" (which is same as college but I swear NFL referees get the ball placed much faster and game clock is rolling significantly faster than college games). There are significantly more "snaps" in a college game than NFL game, which means better teams have more plays to expolit their advantages.

And then obviously in NFL, the talent level is very even most games. Sometimes you can find a coaching/strategic advantage in the NFL, but it's very "iffy".

I know a lot of professional gamblers live off the NFL so it can be done. To my eye, college is just significantly easier though.

I'll take Philly to cover three points, New England to cover one point, and as an underdog Browns at 9.5 is worth the play because it will be closer than a touchdown. If you can get action on Minnesota over Green Bay right now, lock it in before more information comes out on Rodgers.

College football is much easier money.
