• Many fans were frustrated last week that Redd returned to the last-place Milwaukee Bucks despite having the chance to come back home to Ohio and play with LeBron James. Well, the $20-some million difference between the offers was understandably the difference-maker. Keep those special rules to protect the incumbent team in mind in two years, when James is a free agent and the Cavaliers will be able to offer significantly more money to keep him. Contrary to numerous media reports, James' Nike contract does not have a kicker in it to increase his compensation if he plays in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. Some of his other endorsement deals do, but they represent much, much less than he can get by re-signing for a max contract in Cleveland. Not to mention he's restricted, and the Cavaliers can match any offer.

Well that is definatly good to hear. I don't think Lebron is leaving, as long as we have a team that is contending in the East and have done the best we can to surround him with good players, Lebron is staying in Cleveland. And knowing that there he doesn't get more money playing in a big market city just makes me that much more confident he'll stay. :)

The trade kickers were just something that Chad Ford and ESPN made up because they have nothing better to do and they need to make up crazy rumors like that so people will pay to read their "insider" articles. We'll have lebron here for a very long time.

yo- the only thing we need to worry about is the "JAY Z KICKER" and his dumbass roc a fella junk..

bron was on the cover of that magazine with the other members of roc a fella last week

plus when he came out the tunnel of that all star game in denver when introduced he threw up the roc a fella sign..

i mean i couldn't see him going to any other team except the nets when they move to brooklyn (of course partly owned by jigga man himself)

Where will the Nets be in a few years (not in terms of location)? No Kidd, maybe an aging Vince Carter. Maybe an old SAR. Richard Jefferson would have to be moved. And...that's about it. James can give and receive the love all he wants with Roc-a-fella, but he'd probably think twice about playing on the Nets unless they really pull off some good moves.

Also, what companies do have endorsement kickers that Nike doesn't have? Why would Sprite pay him more to be in NYC when Nike wouldn't? The whole thing seems a little shady. Bottom line: if the Cavs have a shot at winning the title by '06-'07, he'll stay.

Plus the Nets are just boring, their jerseys are weak they have a corny name the Nets wow original, and whats so great about Brooklyn anyway? I say Jay-Z buys a share of the Cavaliers with Ursher so D-Gilb can open his pockets more, I want a deep stacked team at all 15 spots..

although we both know that does not play a factor-- i would imagine they will have new uni's by the time they relocate.

plus, they will probably be the hottest ticket in town when they move.. this is not like a move to new orleans.. it's brooklyn new york and it will be big..

none of that might come true at all, but from what i have read, he is pretty tight with ho'va !!!! so we shall see- the way the knicks are going, they won't be a factor in the sweepstakes..

my opinion is like most-- if our team is talented and contending, he will stay..

but if we are just a run of the mill squad, that is winning between 42 to 48 games a year- he will strongly consider a change.

Well right now where they want to build the Arena, it's a bunch of apartments and project run down houses. And it's all going to court so you figure 6 or more months on that plus blue printing the Arena itself will be another 6 months or more. Then the actual construction of the Arena will be a long time a year to 2 years and the time it takes for the team to actually relocate so LeBron should be resigned by us before they even move.

well then... i'm glad you have it all figured out for us... works for me

haha yeah it was on some sports show last week on FSN they are like the move to brooklyn may have to be put off for a while considering the tenants at the apartment buildings aren't as free willing to relocate as once thought. And that they were willing to go to court over it all so hey that works and the way our legal system is it will be a long long time before they settle everything and either evict them which I hope doesn't happen because it would take even longer for them to find a new area for the Arena to be put. So yeah don't worry about Jay-Z guys, maybe when LeBron is 26 or 27 he may consider going there but not anytime soon the way things look to be shaping out.

oh thank god, not until 26 or 27 ... he won't be in his prime then :chuckles:

i can't imagine how much better he will be, it will be something we most likley have never seen before..

and 26- 27 is right around the time "THE KING" will be at the apex of his greatness..

we better not lose him at 26-27.

Yeah seriously we need him but I'm saying people are talking about us losing him in 2 years but at least we'd have 6 more years if we did lose him :( but we won't :) cuz this is his home literally and if he is following MJ's path he needs to stay with 1 team during his glory years if he wants to play with a team in 2030 let him lol but I want him here until he is at least past his mid 30's. Hopefully he doesn't try to play in the NFL or MLB though lol

the thing i find funny is- nobody talks about wade, hinrich, bosh, or melo leaving..

i could see melo leaving to new york before LeBRON..

i remember d-wade saying in slam, that the team that he wanted to go to on draft night was chicago. and that while growing up he always dreamed of being a chicago bull..

yet LeBRON never made any type of statement that he wants out, or dreamed of playing for another team-- but espn and the new york post sure love to say he does..

i know those other guys (bosh excluded) have made the playoffs- but you never hear a peep about their contract situations.

i just wonder if we have some playoff success this upcoming season, if those statements will die down a bit ?

I dont think its so much that LeBron hasn't had playoff success as much as it is sour grapes by the New York and Los Angeles press that they weren't unfortunate enough to win the lottery that year and land hands down the most hyped up player ever. Its pretty bad now, wait until LeBron's contract is actually up for more.

The NBA would never let a 3rd party be involved in the signing of a player like that.
