(No Longer) Joe Woods’ Defense

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It’s basically the same defense it was last year… probably top 10. Nothing special.
It's possible that they perform better like they did towards the end of the 2021 season as they understand their roles a bit more.

Then you got guys entering their 2nd years like JOK, Newsome, and Delpit (basically his 2nd because of the injury). That could take it to the next level.

We'll see.

I think we will improve. We were markedly better at the end of the season compared to the beginning. I was one of Woods biggest critics early on in the season but once our team had grasped the scheme, I was pretty happy with our defensive performance to end the season. It seemed we rarely gave up as many big chunk plays as we did to start the year. My only qualm was that I wish we were a bit more aggressive in blitz packages earlier on but we were sorting out personnel for half the season. If he continues to add some new wrinkles and these 2nd and 3rd year guys continue to develop at the rate they already have, I am hopeful. I think our only glaring weakness is in the middle of the D-line. I feel like we might go situational there regardless all season.

In a nutshell, our defense didn't lose us games down the stretch. It was the other side of the ball.

Pure incompetence not to fire this guy in the off season. Needs to be fired immediately. And for all this guy's defenders, I predict he never gets another chance to be a defensive coordinator. He's one of the worst in the league pure and simple

That was disgusting. Fucking woods....

It's not an aggressive defense in anyway but they get gashed for huuuge game breaking plays all the time. This guy is going down in Cleveland coaching infamy and we've had a lot of bad ones.

Joe Woods has got to go. The defense was bad all game save for a couple of drives. It offered no resistance whatsoever on the last two Jets drives. Being Swiss cheese for an entire game is a schematic issue. Being bad at the worst possible moment is a coaching issue because you put the wrong players out there.

I wouldn’t let this dude coach my imaginary son’s youth football team. I don’t want this imaginary child picking up lack of accountability or preparation from this clown.
