Based on the rumored Kris Humphries and Ben Gordon swap, I figured, why not have the Cavs get involved?
If the Nets are trying to bolster their outside shooting and dump Humphries, why couldn't the Cavs take Gordon instead and deal out their outside shooters to the Nets? I know the Nets' owner has mandated that he doesn't care about money, but they are so far over the tax that a deal like the one I propose would boost their bench and outside shooting at a fraction of the cost.
Why don't the Nets deal Humphries to Charlotte and let the Cavs take on Gordon? The Cavs could send out whatever smattering of outside shooting and expirings the Nets may want. Walton, Ellington, and Gibson to the Nets? The Cavs also have 2 second round picks. They could send one to each team.
I wouldn't expect to get the DET pick that Charlotte owns, but the POR pick that Charlotte owns could be decent compensation as long as say the Nets send MarShon Brooks to the Bobcats.
I would imagine trimming the $12M (plus whatever tax penalties) off of the Nets' payroll would be pretty attractive, especially if they can get the outside shooting out of Ellington and/or Boobie. They could flesh out their bench for this season and gain financial relief after.
Just a framework idea.
