Maybe he means we'd be getting the future books spoiled for us. But if they're not out yet, who cares? I mean, I know some book readers will bitch about that scenario, but I'm not going to avoid the internet for the however many years it takes Martin to finish the books. I'm fine with watching the show even if it passes the books. Given that D&D will then only have a guideline to follow rather than an actual blueprint, the show will end up being significantly different from the books anyway, even moreso than it is already.
Yeah, I'm not going to wait 10-15 years (or eternity) for the books to come out and not go on the Internet. Stupid.
Kind of like The Voice.
That said, I'm not under the illusion that the show will somehow be "different" from the final book product. Some details may be different like they are right now but the actual plot will remain the same, just as it has for 4 seasons now. That's why I said I will be hard pressed to actually read the books after watching the show.
