These are the people I want. I figure Jackson is a pipe dream, so the obvious next choice is Flip Saunders, who is very good at X, and o's which is something that really hurt us last year. At least we would know we wouldn't be getting out coached every night w/ him.

David Morway being a pacer should be very good, and with Marks scouting expertise, these two could make a very good team at g.m., with mark doing the drafts, and morway doing the financing.

Danny Ferry - LOL

Hmmm, Danny Ferry. Is he an actual consideration? Or is he just a thought? It would be interesting to see, but in all honesty I hope he isn't our new GM.

Danny Ferry is a rising front office executive. He will be a GM someday and is someone the Cavs should take a look at. You have to like that he works in the Spurs front office and they could easily be considered the most well run franchise in the league.
Ferry has been around the league his whole life since his father was a long time NBA executive and GM. Ferry never lived up to the hype as a player but managed to carve out a long career for himself and is very smart.

CBBI's list does have all the names the Cavs should consider. I'd love to somehow be able to lure R.C. Buford, the Spurs GM, to become the Cavs next GM but can't see that happening.

Saunders is my top choice for coach. I think he's th ebest coach available and can also be had. There's still a very strong chance that McMillan will stay in Seattle.
I also agree that Eric Musselman should be on the list.

^PJ is also a good candidate. I dont know how he did in Portland...But hes supposed to be a good assistant with the Spurs. And the Spurs are probably the most well-coached team in the league. We should definetly look at guys like him.

I'll take Mowray and McMillan

Should probably add John Hammond of Detroit to the list for GM. He was the early front-runner for the position, but his name has cooled off of late.

don't forget sam vincent

nobody would "wheel n deal" with ferry- therefor making us hate ferry more then we already do now..

harper for ferry = :thumbdown (clinical depression)

Several front-runners have surfaced in Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's search for a general manager and a coach, according to an NBA source with knowledge of the situation.

The top three candidates for the GM posi tion, in no particular order, include David Morway, Rick Sund and Ed Stefanski. Former Minnesota coach Flip Saunders is the front-runner to become the next coach of the Cavs followed by Eric Musselman and Mo Cheeks.

CHICAGO (AP) -- B.J. Armstrong has resigned as a special assistant to Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson to pursue other opportunities, the team said Wednesday.

Armstrong spent five seasons with Chicago's front office after an 11-year career in the NBA, seven with the Bulls.

He was the 18th pick in the first round of the 1989 draft by the Bulls and played on Chicago's first three championship teams from 1991-93.

He was taken by Toronto in the 1995 expansion, traded to Golden State and played with Charlotte before returning to the Bulls as a free agent in 1999. He retired after the 1999-2000 season and joined the front office in July 2000.

BJ is suddenly available. Wonder how high up the list he sits.

GM-Sund
Coach-McMillian
then sign Ray Ray

pick Seattle clean

It was reported today that Sund has started negotiations on a new contract with Seattle. I also think McMillan will stay there. He's been a Sonic his whole career and plus his family has grown up in Seattle. It looks like these 2 might be off the Cavs list now and will remain in Seattle.
I would love to sign Ray Allen though.

I'm not sure if I'd want BJ Armstrong as the Cavs next GM but I wouldn't have a problem if he was brought in at a another front office position like an assistant GM. The Cavs still need a complete overhaul of their operations and an upgrade in all front office positions.
