Thought we needed to sort through some players and see who out there could still help us because I know we have money in the bank.

I had two years because he had limited work in 06. The 05 Chris would be a nice acquisition but he had a horrible year last year. He’s only 28 so I’d say yes to us going after him and even throwing some good money around. It would be another risky addition and another player with doubt. With Borowski, Fultz, Hernandez, Cabrera, Betancourt, Perez, slocum, and our great young prospects and rookies should provide for a nice bull pen. One that could deffinatly be better, but a nice, steady pen. Borowski and Cabrera will either be the closer, add that with a couple of dependable guys and rookies and prospects, and we aren’t in horrible shape as far as the bullpen goes. If Chris can return to his 2005 stature, his arm would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, Villone (36) and Armas (5+ ERA, SP) aren't worth even talking to.
Anyone else out there who could help us that's a FA???

Honestly I don't think we need another lefty in the bullpen.. We already signed Fultz to be the first lefty out of the pen and if we do need one more, we can choose from Rafael Perez or Tony Sipp... Either of them, wouldn't be bad as 2nd options in the pen..

As far as pitchers go, I think we're pretty much set for now.. I mean, we have our starting rotation done pat and our bullpen is pretty set except for maybe a closer.. Although, the guy I think we should take a risk on is Keith Foulke.. He's always been a pretty good closer but injuries have limited him a last few years.. The Indians seem to be a team who can rehab pitchers and get them back to a 100%, so I don't see it being that big of a risk...

(PS - Eric Gagne signed a 1yr deal worth 8 mil guaranteed with the Rangers)

As far as hitters/fielders go, I think we are set unless we can get a big bat in like a Manny Ramirez.. The more I think about it, the more I want the Indians to trade for him... I mean, with Manny, we'd no doubt have this divison almost locked up.. His bat behind Hafner would be deadly... Although the asking price is a lot (Trevor Crowe, Adam Miller and Fausto Carmona), it might be worth it..

The other place I think we need to shore up is the middle infield defense... The one guy I like for cheap is Miguel Cairo.. He doesn't bat for a high average, but he is solid defensively, can play 3 infield positions and hustles..

I view prospects very highly, but with Manny, we're going to the playoffs. Our pitching is in good shape and better than last year, and when you add Manny to the second best offense in the AL, we're a force. I don't wanna turn this into a "should we have" thing, but I woulda done it if BOS agreed to send us atleast 2M in cash as well.

1) if its someone who doesn't upgrade us automatically at a position of need, no reason to go thru the rejects of the non tender list....

2) no one player guarantees anything - especially a player who quit on his team last season - not trading Miller, Crowe and Carmona for Manny
