The new sensation Asdrubal Cabrera has totally turned this team around...10-3 since we stuck him in the lineup...the guy is crushing the ball and hasn't committed an error and has turned quite a few DP's.

But the big shocker was...I didn't even realize he was wearing #13

I know this kid is sick but...c'mon that number should never be worn again :thumbdown

Cabrera is incredible...

I also think we could be even be a little better with Gomez playing 3rd base and Blake playing with himself on the bench...

Omar was his hero growing up...it was his dream come true to play for the Indians and wear Omar's number.

I find it amazing that the Indians got both Vizquel and Cabrera from the Seattle Mariners, both for players that were just borderline major league talents ...Reggie Jefferson and in the case of Cabrera, Eduardo Perez ...who has since retired as a player.

My daughter lives in Akron with her husband, and I guess Asdrubal Cabrera lived at a families house across the street from them while he was playing for the Aeros earlier this year.

So, she's been telling me alot about him since the beginning of the season. He sounds like a kid with a really down to earth attitude ...from what they told me ....my grandson has alot of his autographs from what I'm told, and lots of other Aeros related stuff, like cracked bats, etc ... all stuff that Cabrera would bring back for him after games etc ...

But, anyways ...this kid looks to have "it" ... he fields superbly, which is what we need in our infield ..and his bat has been far more than advertised. It looks like this kid will eventually be our SS of the near future. I don;t like Peralta in the middle of any infield ...his range is poor, and you always like to have a guy that can covere some ground at SS.

I'm loving what he is bringing to this team. He has a confidence about him that was sorely needed in this line-up. Most rookies would be shitting their pants going up against Santana for the first time. Cabrera just said, "F this" and smacked a home run to get things rolling last night.

This also makes our team much deeper now because we can have Barfield come off the bench as a pinch-runner and a solid glove. That may be necessary in a tight postseason game... and I agree Pip, I'd like to see Gomez get an extended look at third too. He's another great pickup by Shapiro.

If you go yard in your first AB against Johan Santana you basically get a free 3 week grace period.

I'm in complete shock that Cabrera got his first start at SS and Peralta was benched last night. Peralta has been outstandingt against Santana. Peralta's career average against Santana is .107, with 22 strikeouts in 28 at-bats. He is the only player in history to have 20 or more strikeouts in 30 or less at bats against a single pitcher.

Shapiro's strength is finding talent. His only limitation is the purse-strings of one Lawrence J. Dolan. If it wasn't for Mark's ability to find the little diamonds-in-the-rough, and get talent back in shrewd trades, this team...scratch that...organization would be in serious trouble now, and for years to come.

It truly is weird - the blue chippers we get always seem to tank (Marte, Barfield, Phillips), while the after-thoughts seem to blossom (Shoppach, etc - can't think of some others right now, but know they're out there).

Yea but you cant blame Shapiro for Phillips. That one falls squarly on old Wedgie's shoulders.
