I just finished hiding plastic Easter eggs in the back yard for my kids to find in the morning in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. When I awake, I may also learn the racoons feasted on all the succulent candies within the eggs in the night as we sleep, crushing their preconceptions of good and evil. My boys are in a critical evening in their understanding of the duality of man. Let's talk mock drafts!
Raiders: B-
What do we do? How do we phrase this? Where do you even play in 2017? So the front office drafted a guy in the first round who blew out his Achilles a week or two prior. That's usually a job killer. We gave their front office a Mulligan, but owner Mark Davis was forced to shave his bowl cut into a mohawk. Everyone wins, but hard to give out a high draft grade afterward. Ross had value, question the fit. Jaleel Johnson checked a box, then they went on a tear grabbing Marlon Mack and Qualls late in great values. Still need linebacker help, but great recovery.
Packers: B-
This franchise just lost some key front office personnel in the offseason, and maybe the brain drain cost the Packers in planning this draft out. Leonard Floyd's impact on the defense and pass rush will be the biggest factor in the grade going up or down by the end of the season. I probably would have stuck with supply and demand to fix the edge rush in a great edge rush draft. Cooper Kupp was a great draft value according to the draft experts, I wonder if he can get separation in the NFL. Johnson and Malone were great value picks, Wilson and Banner don't impress me yet, but a lot can change in the offseason.
Giants: B-
Just a meh draft, no offense meant. Giants needed defensive line help, linebackers and a tight end upgrade. This draft was rich in all three positions. They got Cam Robinson, McMillan a bit too high, Ogunjobi, Gallman, and Morgan. The high point was a value three tech defensive tackle in Ogunjobi, but one linebacker and no tight end in the best tight end draft ever. Meh.
Chiefs: C
Here's the good news: Peterman was a great fit and value at quarterback where he was drafted. Nailed that one! Harris and Tankersley held check with just about where they should go, then the Chiefs started reaching like an Indiana Jones movie where he gets in a race against Nazis and almost falls off a cliff for a few minutes. Reaching on Liedner after just getting a value backup QB in Peterman might have been a fireable offense in real life.
That's it, anal-ized. Hope you relaxed eventually after initially feeling a little tight... Maybe even enjoyed it a little at the end and started thrusting back.
