I know it’s early but I’m already worried, we added more depth but are we really better than last year?
Let’s break it down:
• Wade looks done, Rose is injury prone, Green and Shumpert are retards, Frye, Korver and Calderon are old and can only shoot.
• Cedi and Zizic are young I don’t trust Lue to play them meaningful minutes to find out if they could help anyways
• IT isn’t back until January and we don’t know what he’ll be like when he returns and who knows if his offensive impact will translate sharing the floor with Lebron and he’s a bigger defensive liability than Kyrie.
• No matter what the numbers say, Love isn’t big impact player IMO. He can’t keep up with anyone on GS besides their centers but he’s too short to guard that position to offer paint protection, which will be crucial if IT is on the floor.
• So that leaves Lebron, Crowder, and JR (somehwhat) that can have a positive impact on both ends of the floor the most on anyone on our team.
Idk about you guys but I’m watching the Grizzlies vs Warriors game, Id trade Love for Gasol in a heartbeat. He’s the definition of impact player. I know he’s older but he’s just a better player on both ends of the floor. He’s better in the post, just as good a passer, and at not much difference in shooting at this point (Gasol seemed like he really improved his 3pt shot last couple years) and it’s not like Love is a knockdown shooter himself...he’s above average for a big at best. Gasol sets good screens and always boxes out and communicates on the floor. Gasol might be a tad slower but he makes up for it in size and length and I’d say he has better handles too.
Whatever slight (if any) offensive impact some will argue Love has<<<<the defensive impact Gasol has. And he always gives Warriors problems...which are the kind of guys we need.
Again I know it’s early and we need a healthy IT to gauge where we are as a team but so far it looks like we only got a bit better on defense while being noticibly less potent on offense this year.
