So what do you guys think about this game? This game seems eerily similar to last week's vs Illinois. On the road, in the state of Illinois, in potentially poor weather conditions, against a team who looks shoddy statistically and in the records department, but against a team who's also playing their best ball right now and is now much better than their wins and stats would indicate.

I think that OSU will dominate, like they have all season up until the last 20 minutes of the Illinois game, but I'm not as confident as I was, since they did show they were human last week. I am confident they will win, and reasonably confident they will dominate, but I wouldn't be totally shocked to see another stink fest like last week. At this point, I will hope for a blow out, but will settle for a victory and no major injuries.

Smith has been kinda off for a while now. Yesh hes hit the wide open recievers and has gotten some accurate throws in coverage, but he hasnt hit Ginn with a bomb in months it seems like.

Months? :chuckles: Smith went 15 for 23, for 220 yards and FOUR WHOPPING TDs just two weeks ago against the Hoosiers! Sure, his two games since have been low statistacally. He had just 183 yards and a TD vs Minnie, in a 44-0 blowout, but that was b/c he only played 3 quarters and the Buckeyes were getting 6 yards a carry. There was no reason to have Troy do anything but hand it off. Of course, at Illinois was a stink fest: 108 yards, 0 TDs, 1 Int; however, Smith did still hit on 13 of 23 passes, ran for 37 yards on some good looking designed runs, was getting zero protection from 2nd stringer turned starter at LT Tim Schafer (with Boone injured), and his Int was a well thrown ball that the TE tipped up into the air. That should have been a completion. He also had no running game to help him out vs the Illini, as Pittman was getting 1.8 yards a rush!

Smith is the least of OSU's problems.

What I should have said is his deep balls have just missed for a while now.

Me too! Im leaving in about 2 minutes. Lets go Bucks.

Turns out I'm not going - the neighbor had invited me about 2 months ago - the guy he was getting tickets from kept telling him he had 'em - turns out the faggot didn't. He will be introduced to my fists next time I see him.

And cali, I'll be in Columbus that weekend - I have to work a bit late in Chicago on Friday, but will try to get out as soon as I can to make the drive to Columbus. My friends and I will all be going out - prolly to Novak's then Spice - then partying on Saturday for the game. Maybe Alumni Club???? Can't wait - then Browns Stoolers on Sunday.

Let's see, 54-10, and that was with a fumble at the 1 yard line and 2 missed extra points. OSU easily could have put up SIXTY THREE! Goodness gracious.

OSU is now averaging 28 more points a game then their opponant! Wowsa! This team has a chance to go down as one of the greatest ever. If they win out, they will be what, the second or third team to ever be number 1 the whole season? They've blown everyone out but 1 team (Illinois) so far. I remember that prior to last week, the Buckeyes had won every game by at least 17. (Actually, after Texas, they beat everyone by at least 20!) There hadn't been a team to win all their regular season games by at least 14 since like 1936. (I want to say Navy?) Obviously they're not going to do that now that Illinois was a 7 point game, but just to be that close to doing it, plus averaging 28 more points, says alot. Plus, it's way more impressive to dominate like that in today's game, with the parity you see, then it was back then.

The individual performances were nice as well. Four more TDs for Smith, to three different receivers. Pittman getting 1000 yards. Pittman is just the fifth OSU running back to have consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, joining George, Archie Griffin, Keith Byars and Tim Spencer. Nice company! Chris Wells having a nice bounce back game, getting 99 yards and a score. Pitcock getting a sack was nice to see, with his recent injury concerns. He's probably about full go. Six turnovers generated by various guys (leading to 6 TDs). Alot of the reserves who got to play looked great in the fourth quarter. That giant freshman TE Jake Ballard looks great. I thought they might move him to OT when he signed with the Buckeyes b/c of his size, but he moves well and has great hands. Remeber his TD vs Indy? It'd be a shame to waste those hands at OT.

Some more nice designed runs for Smith. Think we'll see that next week? I think we will. Michigan will be tough to run on, and I think OSU's best shot for success will be through Smith.

In the things to work on department, there were of course the two missed PATs, but also NW had some nice gains on screen passes. In fact, I've seen that several times this year. The silver bullets seem to be suseptable to screens.

I thought this was funny:
A sellout crowd of 47,130 attended the game, eclipsing the previous Ryan Field season mark of just 29,387 set for the Oct. 21 game against Michigan State. OSU fans appeared to outnumber NU fans at least three-to-one.
This was like another home game!

It definately was like another home game. It was a great atmosphere before during and after the game. It was at least 75% Buckeye fans there. There were enough Buckeye fans there to even go around the stadium and have each group do their part of the O-H-I-O cheer. Although everytime we started something the pressbox would start blaring music to try to drown us out. That stadium is an absolute crap hole. They had some portapots set up few and far between and the lines to use them were at least a half an hour long. I saw people literally peeing anyplace they could find just because they couldnt wait in line that long. They also had no security there at all as I saw more than a few drunk fans running onto the field on more than one occasion with no one chasing them and then they would just run right back in the stands like nothing happened. Another huge drawback was the extreme lack of parking. All of the lots were at least a half an hours walk away and while there were shuttles there werent enough to truly transport all of the fans. Anyway it was fun to see this team own an obviously inferior team. Now starts the really fun week. LETS GO BUCKS!

Sounds like another reason to toss NW out of the big ten. Oh well, just to get to see this team play anywhere this year on this magical run is a treat.
