Dunno how much we can trust WKYC but this might be the worst kept secret ever.

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers have fired General Manager Jim Paxon.

After spending weeks atop their division, the Cavaliers failed to make the playoffs.

The Cavaliers plan to announce the move shortly

Don't let the door hit ya in the ass Jimmy!

I wonder if LeBron gave his endorsement...not that it was really needed.

On Espnnews now. Thank God its about time

Dear God I hope Gilbert learned something about "addition by subtraction" from his firing of Silas. In other words he better have Plan B already in motion.

I really dont think he was as bad of a gm as everyone made him out to be. But i definetly think that we could bring in someone that would be an upgrade over paxson this offseason. Pax made some really questionable moves but he also made some great trades like the ones to get snow, drew, and av this offseason.

That guy from detroit sounds like he would be a great replacement if hes interested. I think Greg Anthony would do a decent job as a GM. But his lack of experience may be a reason to back off and go with someone more proven.

Well, i've been heard that one of these days he was going to be fired after the firing of Paul Silas.. Any ideas on our new GM? And our coach.... Phil Jackson :D.

I guarantee who we bring is doesnt have a better track record than what Paxson had.

Pax made some questionable moves, but if we bring in a rookie GM, then we will be wishing we had Paxson back after five years.

I dont know who is out there as for exp GMs are concerned, but good execs just dont walk around freely.

Saying that Paxson may be better than the replacement is like saying you prefer Jeffrey Dahmer to kill you as opposed to Ted Bundy. It can't get any worse, so why not try someone else.

Jesus christ man, what a horrible analogy. Thats just messed up.
Anyway, Paxon had it coming to him, hopefully we can get someone better, but Paxon just made the decisons that seemed right at the time, thats all.

He really screwed us on the way out just like Silas and McInnis. The Welsh trade could go down as a killer (we could have a chance at Deron Williams or Felton). I'm hoping Welsh can turn it around still though, as if we trade Sasha for PG, Jiri is going to have to step up a bit next year

Didn't take Gilbert too long. If the next GM isn't a proven commodity than they should hire an assistant GM or personnel director from a quality organization with a history of recent success and smart personnel moves and drafting. The Spurs, Pistons, Pacers and Kings would be good places to look.
Hopefully the new GM is given power and will be allowed to do his job with constant interference from Gilbert.

Theh bad part for Paxson is that he made moves the last couple of years with the plan to have major cap space this summer and now he won't be the one to take advanatge of it.

This GM hire will tell us a lot about the future of this franchise. If Gilbert screws it up than the Cavs will be in serious trouble.

Gilbert just said in response to the firing and overall tone of the team that he wants the team to not be satisfied with being a couple games over .500 and that he wants to "win the championship or more."

Is he alluding to the Olympics or something? Is there a super secret tourney in August?

Jiri over Sasha?

No..Just.....No.

And he really didn't screw us too much by getting Welsh, it's not like we can't get anything for him this summer.
