Rangers sign Gagne to 1 year, 8 M contract

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

That's a lot of cash for a guy who hasn't been healthy in a long, long time. Too rich for the Tribe, that's for sure. Can't say I blame Shapiro/Dolan on this one.

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

For rich teams its not a big deal, teams are offering more and more because there is not SALARY CAP:mad:

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

Dolan promised not said, promised the payroll would be 60M+. We still have atleast 10 million and I think around 14 to spend.

Is there anyone still available that can make an impact.

Borowski is a good option at closer. If we throw money at Foulke, it should not be anything major at all. I also thank the Good Lord for our team option for 2008 on Borowski. Gives us options.

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

I would love Cabrera to close if he is able to outperform everyone, since he has many years ahead of him and can grow in that position.

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

Do you have the exact quote of Dolan promising what the payroll would be?

Count me as another who is glad the Indians passed on Gagne - $6 million was a stretch, $8 million is stupid

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

If Gagne gets 30 saves for the Rangers next season, i will be very impressed, this guy missed a whole year with Tommy John surgery, do you really want to roll the dice on that?

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

He saved 88 games in a row, yes ID take the chance.

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

I'm at least glad we made an attempt to sign the guy...high risk, but high reward. worth the chance. hopefully it'll work out for the rangers(as long as it doesn't hurt our chances, heh heh).

Re: Rangers sign Gange to 1 year, 8 M contract

Guys, I wanted Gagne just as much as the rest of you, but 8M for a season is even more than I thought he'd get.

He's pitched 18 games in 2 seasons. High risk/reward: yes. Am I devastated: no.

Do you want to win the series our not, its been since 58 ya know. Owners have millions upon millions, what 8 to them.

It's not documented now but it was reported on the team site.

I'm pretty sure we have around 8 mil left, but I'm not positive...

Look for Shapiro to try and sign a guy like Keith Foulke and a middle infielder such as a Miguel Cairo...

1) it was 1948 actually

2) i believe the total was 6 million and not 8, but still thats a lot of money for someone who has pitched 15 innings in the last two years....

3) Gagne wasn't going to guarantee anything
