Got to catch up on some of the Oscar season movies. LadyBird, The Post and Darkest Hour are still on my "to see" list. But the ones I saw recently:
The Shape of Water - Very creative visually, interesting yet simple premise, and one dimensional characters. It's definitely a Guillermo Del Toro movie. Good acting, though. Octavia Spencer is a national treasure.
Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri - Imagine "Manchester by the Sea" but with likable characters. Batshit insane characters, but likable. Sam Rockwell is a national treasure.
Jumani - OK, not an Oscar bait movie. I really liked the original as a kid. This is exactly what you'd think from the trailers. Pretty fun. Future President The Rock is a national treasure.
Disaster Artist - Really great. The good Franco will probably get some best actor buzz for it.
