CAREER HIGHLIGHTS : Hinson improved his scoring input from his rookie year to sophmore season by 10.3 ppg whilst only playing 7 extra minutes per game.

OVERVIEW : This talented center had a short, but quite successful personal career with the Cavaliers. Drafted 20th overall, Hinson became quite a steal. After a steady rookie campaign where he provided a defensive presense and solid rebounding, his game exploded. Hinson in his 2nd campaign, showed an excellant post game, and became the Cavaliers goto guy in the post. This provided the Cavaliers with a 1-2 punch with the free scoring guard World B Free. This duo lead the Cavaliers to the playoffs despite the Cavaliers sub 50% record.

An explosive dunker, Hinson's amazing leap was almost matched again. Improving his scoring to 19.6ppg, a jump of 4ppg. Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, it was not enough for them to continue their playoff quest. Hinson gave Cleveland an efficient scorer, solid rebounder and shot blocker. But this mixed with Free's scoring was not a successful combo.

The Cavalier's were not happy with their 7 game drop in Hinson's 3rd season. George Karl had been sacked mid season, but something bigger was to follow next offseason. Hinson, with his ever improving game, was traded for a draft pick. Not everyday you trade an extremely talented center. But this decision was more then justified, when the draft pick from Philidelphia turned out to be Brad Daugherty.

FACT : Roy Hinson, in 1986 contested the slam dunk contest. This contest also featured a young guard from Chicago wearing the #23.

WHY AS HIGH AS #16 : Hinson was an elite center. A mixture of explosive post moves together with tough defense. Hinson played tough despite his lean frame. The fact he was traded for the 1st pick overall in the 1986 draft, shows his worth. A player of his ability would be much higher on my list, however his career here was short in length and rather unsuccessful team wise.

WHY AS LOW AS #16 : As mentioned above, Hinson had just three seasons in Cleveland. Two of which the Cavaliers missed the playoffs, and the other scraped in with a losing record. Roy was not a great rebounder and was prone to foul trouble. However these were his real only flaws.

FINAL THOUGHT :
Roy Hinson will mostly be remembered as the guy who got us legendary Brad Daugherty. This did prove to be a great deal for the franchise, but that should not dim what he brang to the floor. Hinson brought to the floor what is so rare now, an offensive post game.
