He was injured and broken. The season prior though, healthy and performing.
Just about every off-season you want a new QB. This isn't fantasy football. You can't throw Kapernick a bone, or bring in Cam and rejuvenate his career, or expect Jimmy G to evolve, or Wentz to return to his few Philly seasons.
Go big or go home, and take Baker with you.
Jimmy G and Wentz were both injured and they both played better than Baker last season.
Also you are leaving out some of the other QB's I suggested that we get to. I don't see you mentioning Matt Stafford but you'll mention Kap and Cam Newton who have both had more success than Baker btw.
Just saying that I've advocated for a few QB's and mostly all of them have performed as good or better than Baker. Even guys like Mitch Trubisky has had just as much success as Baker has but we're supposed to be resigned to rolling with Baker because he was good for 10 games?
Baker Mayfield was the #1 overall pick in the draft and at this point in his career he's closer to being a bust than a Franchise QB. The numbers prove me right on that. He's average. He's not a Franchise QB. You don't draft a QB #1 overall for him to be average. That's what Baker is and it's funny seeing a lot of other QB's get shot down when on the surface they have simply been better QB's than Baker.
