Apparently this deal has reached a hitch, which could only be good news for the cavs. Although even if it went through, it could just be a smoke screen for joe johnson anyway. It allows them to get a very solid 5/4, they can move marion back to the three. The team also has jim jackson who could start at the 2. They are also said to be interested in mike finley.

jackson, finley, marion and barbosa are not bad guard and small forward rotation.

Good news. I hope this trade doesnt go down. I think its still likely to happen though. NY and Phoenix just have to get a few things straightened out. I still just love the thought of JJ in a cavs uniform.

Finley?

I didnt really think that this deal would go through. I mean the Suns just got Q last year and they had a awesome season with him on the team so why would they want to trade for a stiff like Thomas??

So they can keep JJ happy.

James 23, Phoenix needed a tough body down low to protect Stoudamire and Marion. You dont always trade for equal talent. Sometimes you sacrifice talent for a better fit.

Thats true but the way Thomas plays doesnt really fit with the way that the Suns run there Offence.

You dont need all five players to run to be a running team.

Even at that, Thomas isnt Shawn Bradley.

You're right, I hate this deal for the Suns. They already had a defensive big better than Kurt Thomas in Bo Outlaw. And if they wanted to shift everyone back down 1 position (Amare, Marion) they could've tried that with either Outlaw, or at least Little Jake if Outlaw was too slow.

Kurt Thomas is an effort guy and a 6th man at best, I don't know why the heck they would even want him at C, that's such a joke.

Thomas is a solid defender, tough body, and good mid range shooter. That to me fits into what Phoenix need!

Well the deal is done. Richardson and Nate Robinson for Kurt Thomas!

Karma's analysıs ıs rıght on. I'd love to see hım on the Cavs. The man can rebound better than Gooden, shoot better than Gooden, and defend better than Gooden. He's also tougher than Gooden. Of course he gets paıd a lot better than Gooden too. Those posters who see hım as a sıxth man haven't seen hım play. He's rock solıd.

If you read a few Knicks forums around, you will see that the New Yorkers are actually pretty pissed off that their best rebounder/defender got traded for the worst chucker in the league.

I would be pissed too. Now NY has Crawford AND Richardson playing the same position. And they are BOTH chuckers.

Kurt Thomas for Q would have been one of the worst trades ever for NYK. Slowly dissipating the bigs for more glut, more selfish play, etc. The combo of Marbury, Crawford, and Q would be terrible. Or maybe they'll get along. Who knows.

But them picking up Nate Robinson also was key. He's a great PG prospect and I guess he'll play backup fairly well, even if it is to Marbury.

Channing Frye patched up this trade also.

Frye
Rose/Taylor
Q
Crawford
Marbury

Probably going back to the lottery next season. Especially if they start Thomas again.

They might have a few aces up their sleeve next season though. Hardaway's contract is about to expire, that's something good to trade. So does Thomas. That's about 30 mil in expiring contracts to work with. I can see Thomas trading these for guys like Webber after his Philly experiment fails, Wally Szczerbiak, Odom, Dampier, etc. You know, guys that haven't really lived up to the money they're getting paid, with multiple years left on their contract.

This is a straight up bad trade for both teams. I have a vested interest in this as Suns are my 2nd fav team, and Knicks 3rd.

Knicks are left with a bunch of Shooter McGavins in Marbury, Crawford, Penny Hardaway and Q. That would be OK in and of itself but they have no defensive bigs left, it's like the end of Knick basketball as we know it. Ewing and Oakley are probably cursing out Isiah Thomas as we speak. Good luck getting hammered on every night next year Michael Sweetney :banghead:

A 6'9 center is not going to improve the Suns. I know Kurt Thomas is a tough physical player and all, but can he even run? I mean, he's been in NY's halfcourt sets for his whole career! Help me out here, it has been a while since I"ve seen him on TV. Only when they played the Cavs on 43, and there was no running that I remember.
