Ricky Rubio - Take the Money and Limp

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wow, the ultimate floor general, very very good quality signing. Now we only need a couple of legit SF and Mobley, of course

In case you were wondering what Ricky is up to, he led Spain to an Olympic victory over Japan two days ago. Rubio scored 20 points and dished 9 assists while not committing a single turnover.

Probably get traded at the deadline but we should be able to get something for him

With Love and Rubio, do we now have the most attractive team in the league?

I love the acquisition of Rubio. First, he's just a really good backup PG who does what Delly did--get you into your offense.

However, he also does two things incredibly well--defend and pass. If you're hoping that Sexton sticks around long-term, this is exactly the kind of guy you want brought in--a veteran who can help the kid continue to grow.

If the price to get this done was paying a future second rounder, that's a cheap price. Nice move Koby.

I know ideally, we'd also want Rubio to be able to shoot, but if he were capable of that he'd be an All-Star PG, not our new backup that we acquired for Taurean Prince.

Why send cash when the Cavs are the ones taking on 4+ more million dollars? There are plenty of decent PG in free agency this year they could of gotten for less.
You worried about Gilbert’s bank account? Why? That cash doesn’t affect the salary cap. Also, we don’t have cap space so signing a free agent PG isn’t easy.

Trade Prince for another position of need. PG is the strongest position of all the free agnets. That's an extra 4.8 million on the payroll. Believe me there was better ways to use that cap space!

We cannot use that money. It’s not cap space. That $4.8M has no bearing on anything the Cavs can or cannot do.

I love this pick-up for the Cavs. He's an incredible fit to play in the backcourt alongside Sexton while Garland sits, and to even play a few minutes alongside Garland as well whenever we want to run him off screens to utilize his shooting.
If he stays. And he might until the trade deadline.
