Shut up. You have no idea what you are talking about. I can be fierce too.
Do your research into ACL tears and how they happen, especially for athletes with history of ligamentous injuries and especially ones who had suffered from an ACL injury in the past.
ACL injuries happen as a result of fatigue, via a process called low-cycle material fatigue. You may think it was a freak accident, but it wasn't. His ligaments were weak as is and his muscles could no longer support his hip and knee. Rubio attempted a stop jump, an action with puts the most stress on the knee through loading , especially during high reaction force with low knee flexion. It is signifcantly correlated with peak anterior shear force on the proximal tibia.
There is a direct correlation between hip, knee and ankle. They work in conjecture and each of them can have an adverse effect on the other joint if that joint is compromised. There is significant evidence between hip abductor and quadriceps fatigue and ACL injuries. Especially for those with history of tears.
You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think that his left ACL injury, left ankle injury an now this ACL injury are not correlated. Each injury affected the other that came after.
During the stop jump sequence Rubio demonstrated real poor landing biomechanics. His feet was poorly aligned with the rest of his trunk, it wasn't fully planted and you can actually see that he had sprained his ankle a bit because of the poor muscle activation(less energy absorption at the hip) done by his hip extensors during the deceleration phase as a result of the muscle fatigue, landing biomechanics(high knee valgus, low knee extension and he was actually leaning backwards which made his hamstrings and hip not contract during the action). His correct muscles simply did not contract during the most critical phase which made his knee the most susceptible to injury.
Take it from someone who has lax ligaments, when i'm fatigued, I get injured. My muscles support my joints because my ligaments do a piss poor job at it. When my muscles relax, or get fatigued for some reason, I suffer. As simple as that.
Ricky Rubio is a 31 y/o basketball player with a load of mileage on his body with a history of disgusting injuries. He was clearly gassed and his body did not handle the increased load and accumulated fatigue.
JBB has a tendency of playing players for super long durations. Sometimes for a full half without a break. Circumstances suck, but every team has the same circumstances and i'll even go out on a limb and say the Cavs had been lucky up until now. You have to work around it and not through it. The Pelicans had a G-league roster. A far worse roster than the Cavs fielded last night. And yes, the difference in ability between Rubio and Pangos is astronomical, but that does not mean you have to overwork a veteran point guard that the Cavs can not afford to lose. You find ways to overcome it by putting more responsibility on your other talented players and playing with better understanding of what you need to do on the court.
Pelicans played for long duration with a point guard named Zach Harper. A cross between Jeff Teague and Wendell Carter in looks. Absolutely horrifying and with not much skills to boot. But he played, and he did his job fairly well with nothing much to lose. Last night the refs were calling some bullshit fouls on the Cavs and nothing on the Pelicans to try to get them back into the game. Harper was pressuring and fouling Rubio on every trip down the court. He was banging his knee on drives and Rubio looked absolutely annoyed and fatigued because of it. HE SHOULDN'T HAVE PLAYED SO MUCH.
This injury will most likely have a snow ball effect which will hurt players production (like Love and other players who benefitted from Rubios play) and also "force" JBB to play some other key guys more, perhaps even more than they are capable of). This is what i'm afraid of.
What I hope is that the Cavs will try to protect Mobley and Garland above all. Garland will have to play in a bigger role and Mobley was another guy who JBB used to play a lot of minutes without break and have already suffered a hip injury of sorts. He is a guy with poor hip biomechanics that produces a knee valgus effect when he walks. He is a guy that this franchise needs to protect at all costs and an increased load will not do him good at this point in time.
I'm mad because: 1) Rubio is my guy and has been huge for this team 2) I have called JBB out on it since the beginning and said it could cause an injury.
So you can be mad about my response, but it's foolish and the outcome makes me not even want to tune in anymore because it sucks so much and sports injuries have been my biggest weakness as a die hard sports fan. I'm not the bad guy here.
