On June 15, the Cavaliers have to decide if they want to pick up Robert Traylor's $1.8 million option for next season. That should be an affirmative. Traylor played hard and was productive coming off the bench. In the final six games of the season, he averaged 13 points, 7.6 rebounds and shot 54 percent.

Taking up his option is a no brainer to me. Some may want to keep that space for elsewhere, but a big of his stature cannot be had normally at that price.

I defenetly would pick up his option. He was a nice bench player for us last season. 1.8mil for a player of his caliber is a bargain imo. You're not gonna find a much better value than that.

It all depends. Picking up tractors option should definately be on the back burner for us. It's very cheap, but it is also an extra 2 million we could throw at a star shooting guard if it came down to that.

I'd pick it up though, and look to work out a longer termed deal for the tractor during the season, as long as the contract was relatively a bargain.

We should definitely resign Traylor. If we don't, and happen to lose Z, we would be stuck with Gooden/Varajeo as the starting 4/5 and probably a junk overpaid FA center to back them up. Which is basically what Traylor is anyway, so there's no reason to overpay on the FA market.

Glad you posted that part Karma, I didn't want to go looking through his stats. I think we overrated Traylor in the RCF Bench/Defensive POY polls, mainly because he played so well at the end, after most of the rest of the team quit. He was the only guy trying to pump up the crowd at the end. But he was only average at best through most of the season. When teamed with AV he made plays that affected the game's outcome, but when AV was out, he was just an average meat and potatoes PF.

10-12 MPG is right where Traylor needs to be to be effective. Since he's probably going to play 4th big and not just ride the bench, 1.8 million is a very fair deal for both sides. It's like the 1/2 pound beef burrito special on Taco Bell's 99c menu- it just makes sense. Make it happen Gilbert!

I'd pick it up. Traylor is a solid backup most of the time. he can be a little inconsistent. I think we overlook some games where he didn't show up and focus on his play at the very end of the season.
Hopefully someone will be hired in the front office before the date on his option comes up. They are the ones that should be playing a major role in making the decision.

Tractor is definatly keeper for that price. He is a verbal leader on the court, he brings that same type of emotion that Alonzo brings to the heat, only he is less talented.

yeah this was a no brainer. tractor played inspired off the bench last year. his role playing was a very important part to this team. he is a big body that will service us well this year and hopefully will have a great relationship with brown as he did with silas...

Picking up the option is a no-brainer to me. Cleveland will need the extra big body, since Diop is gone and it reduces the already not-so-deep big man suppy on our team by one.

I say pick it up. With Z possibly leaving, Diop leaving (even if he stays he doesn't help much), and I don't know about Scott Williams. Even if he stays he's not much help.

Gotta do it, gotta do it. Towards the end of the season he's seemed to have shaded off from being Silas' boy and McI's supporter. I think he kinda gave up on McInnis at the end. He realizes the opportunity he has here and he knows he's an important contributor. Him, paired with AV is a good front court combo off the bench; they compliment each other very well.

i'm pretty sure Scott Williams retired....

I'd pick it up because he is what we need on the bench as a big man and i think him and AV were a good force last year... Pretty cheap too, let's do it...

Pick it up. Where is the down side? Worst case he is your last guy off the bench, which means there are a lot of good guys coming off the bench ahead of him. More likely is he fills in for the injured big men, or when Goober has a brain fart. He is playing hard team ball and will do so all year (as it is a contract year)

Resign the big man. There is no harm in it at all.

Wednesday is D-day on taking up Traylor's option. Haven't heard any whispers as to what they may be doing, but you'd have to believe that it will be taken up.
