Based on what Detroit got in their somewhat surprising trade of Reggie Bullock to the Lakers, I think the Cavs did well in the Hood trade.

While none of the trades executed during the season so far by Altman/Gilbert have been franchise-changing, I think they have gotten solid value in each of them.

We'll see if they can flip Burks by tomorrow. With the Clippers trading Tobias Harris, maybe more players are going to be on the market and make trading Burks more challenging.

I think they are trading Burks for sure, they just can't decide which deal to take. Kind of a no brainer for osmeone to flip a late pick for him. He can help you in the playoffs and save you money right after.

Rodney had 14 last night on 6-7 shooting off Portland’s bench.

Hood seemed to lack both aggressiveness and physicality as a basketball player, which ultimately is what holds him back. But...he always seemed like a decent, hardworking guy who was not a locker room cancer, so I kind of wish the best for him.

Portland twitter was loving him last night. I honestly hope he can do well. I just don't think our team was the right fit. Maybe as a bench guy who can score some buckets in a Clarkson role he can do well. He sucked as a starter and he would freeze out Clarkson and Cedi because he was somewhat of a black hole. Plus inconsistency. He also never worked off the bench since we had Clarkson. The two of them didn't work together and Hood stunk as a starter, so we got what we could for him. Even if he becomes some pretty good 6th man, I am not going to sweat it.

I hear ya. If I recall he had a very good game his first time out for the Cavs.
I hope he does ok out there- I can’t says there’s a particular reason to ill wish the guy (other than him being a big disappointment here).

As I said in another thread, the Cavs made four trades and ended up with two first round picks, six second round picks, and some over paid bench players. The Cavs are projected to have the third, and twentieth picks in the 2019 draft. That should be a very nice start considering Gilbert's willingness to spend.

Hood is a perfectly fine scorer in context...

He isn’t a good starter.

He’s a poor defender. His all around game is weak.

But when he gets rolling he’s got some pop in his bat as the baseball scouts like to say.

He can score off the dribble at times, can hit tough shots at times, can handle the ball decently.

He’s a solid bench NBA player and a great addition to the bottom end of an nba rotation...

His work last year doesn’t count because Lebron and Lue absolutely ate his soul...

Hood has played ten games for the Trail Blazers and averaged over 21:00 minutes per game. The 27 point outburst brought his scoring average up to 8.2 points per game. I still don't count him as a loss
I was just surprised that Blazers fans were enjoying.

Same here. And even if he finds some success and a role in Portland this year and even beyond, that doesn't mean anything every would have happened in Cleveland. In fact, I'm 99.9% positive that would have been the case.

At the end of the season Hood would have been gone and no one would have missed him in Cleveland. Instead he is gone and we have something to show for it.

I wish him the best and hope he can carve out some niche for himself. He's not a starter, but he could find a bench role and contribute in the right place. Portland may be that place and he might get a piece of the MLE next year from them. I doubt he'll get the whole MLE, but Portland might find him worthwhile for 3 years and $12M or so. If so he makes some money, can hope to play well, and provide his family some stability in that city.

Glad to be done with him but wish him well.
