Asked after Monday's practice about first-year coach Reggie Theus and the job he's done this season, Ron Artest -- who said last week that he didn't see himself in the Kings' long-term plans -- said Theus and his team would be better off without him.
"He's doing good; he's doing good," Artest said of Theus. "I just think they (the Kings) would be better if I wasn't on the team. I think (Theus) would be doing much better."

When asked via e-mail if he wants to be traded, Artest would not give an indication. He did say, however, that he sees himself as an obstacle of sorts to the progression of teammates Francisco García and John Salmons.

"García and Salmons blossom better when I'm not around," he wrote. "I really enjoy watching them. John Salmons is someone that I look up to and García is a very great friend and I like watching them play." -- Sacramento Bee

Ron Artest wants out.... any interest?

The Nuggets and Kings are discussing a swap that would send
Nene
Linas Kleiza
JR Smith
Eduardo Najera
Future 2nd round pick

for

Ron Artest
Mike Bibby

I thought Kiki was no longer there to make stupid trades for the Nuggets...guess I was wrong.

so the nuggets would have a 5 of Bibby, AI, Melo, Artest and Camby? That wouldn't suck. Don't know enough about them to comment on their bench... but if I'm Denver, I entertain the idea...

Most of the rotation would be gone in that trade...that, and I'm not sure how long Melo, AI, and Artest could exist playing together before someone was actually killed at a game.

true but still... it could be entertaining... and if artest could be on good behavior for 6 months... with current arms race going on, I wouldn't be surprised to see Denver pull off something like this (maybe take Kenny Thomas in return- obviously, I haven't check the salaries on any of this).

How do you trade a guy who's out indefinitely with a potentially life-threatening cancer?

Really -- is that even possible?

He's got another 4 years left on his contract as well.. makes ya wonder.

Yes I have interests. Good post player and can hit 3s and contrary to popular belief that he is hard to direct and a cancer, he is in fact coachable and a good locker room guy as of right now. The defensive maestro we are seeking if we need to cover 2 scorers. Can play 1, 2, 3 and 4 positions.

So what if Mike Brown doesn't like him? It's not like that Mike is the brainchild and the franchise player of this team. He is the one who need to adjust for this team to move forward.

I think that Mike Brown is far from disliking him... If I remember correctly, Ron Artest and MB were pretty close in Indiana and those two were on pretty good terms there... I doubt that if he would come here, there would be any problems as MB doesn't seem to be a guy who would clash with Artest and vice versa as well Artest being on a winning team and him seeming to mellow out in his older age...

I'd take Artest in a heartbeat as long as it meant not giving up Varejao, Z, James or Gibson... Artest is in his prime right now and would be a great fit next to LeBron giving us a defensive stopper we need in addition to a legit scorer... People may not think of Artest as a scorer but he's put up 18.5+ points the last few seasons in Sacramento where he's been asked to be more of a scorer and has had a nice past few games... He's a decent shooter too shooting above 43% from the field and 34% from 3 this season...

Artest can opt out soon so that would certainly factor in any deal but I certainly wouldn't be opposed to the idea of getting him if we couldn't get either of the Mike's...

I spoke to MB about Artest shortly after he started coaching here. He was close to him when they were Indy, but it wasn't by choice. He was basically in charge of trying to keep him under control. He was the perfect person for the job because of his personality. In our discussion, I got the impression that he has had enough interaction with RA to last a lifetime.

I like RA as a player and I think he would be great in our lienup. The problem is that he is a powderkeg. You just cant risk bringing someone in here that is so unstable. We need to eliminate reasons for Lebron wanting to leave....bringing RA here could potentially be adding one.

Looks like if anyone gets him, it'll be Denver (no surprise):

League sources confirmed to HOOPSWORLD today that the Denver Nuggets are continuing to have discussions with the Sacramento Kings about Ron Artest. The story remains the same. The Kings would like Linas Kleiza included in the deal, and the Nuggets remain hesitant to move him. The Nuggets are skeptical about giving up a young talent like Kleiza for Artest given the fact Artest will almost certainly opt out of his contract and command a hefty raise this summer. Expect discussions between the Nuggets and the Kings to continue over the next 72 hours. One league source indicated that if a deal for Artest gets done, he believes it will be with Denver.

I'd be afraid to acquire Ron Artest as much as he would help us because he could possibly be a half-a-year rental...

The only thing I'd do would be Sasha, Shannon and Ira straight up for Ron-Ron...
