Maybe this belongs in the Around the NBA board, but I disagree.

1.) horrible draft choice in Darko

No disagreement there

2.) let their defensive heart walk away in FA. Big Ben

Chicago WAAYYYY overpaid him. Detroit knew he'd be on the decline. He wasn't worth a max contract, and Detroit was wise not to give it to him.

3.) traded away their leadership and glue in Chauncy. More important when there hasn't been any continuity in the coaching staff

The Chauncey move was all about cap space. They have enough for a max contract this off season, or they could bank it for the 2010 FA bonanza.

Their roster was getting old. Rather than try and squeeze out some 50 win seasons this year and next, and then being dead in the water, Dumars decided to start rebuilding now.

Would you rather have 2-3 years of relative competitiveness followed by a 5 year rebuilding plan, or 2 tough years and being right back near the top?

Well that was an ass whoopen in the 4th, kind of weird but cool at the same time to hear MVP chants for Lebron in the Palace. But i guess its only fitting since he is the king. Its good that we are gonna get some rest but hopefully we do not come out rusty in the next series.
