Not 100% sure but as a new First time NBA player with under 4 years in the league, he will be a RFA(either next year if he opts out, or the following year if he plays out the contract)So basically a one year deal. If he blows, he takes the player option to cash in. If he is good, he leaves for more money and or a bigger role most likely.
Will be nice to have the depth for one year at least. Hopefully he's decent.
Similar to how Mirza Teletovic was a RFA this summer until the Nets chose to renounce him
