Series #2- Kansas City @ Cleveland. Tribe home opening series.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Salvatore swings at a pitch well off the plate and deposits it in the trees.

I'm also puzzled by the decision to platoon at SS instead of giving Gimenez an opportunity to be the everyday SS. For what it's worth, his splits were actually favorable against LHP in 2019.
There is no evidence that this decision has been made. Gimenez played against Matt Boyd in the opener. Gimenez sat against the tough Skubal; it was a good opportunity to get Amed some AB's and after the win, Terry played the hot hand against Duffy. Please, let's not overreact to a couple of games. I'll be as upset as you if it's a straight platoon, but I doubt that's the case.

If Tito is sticking with this Gamel/Luplow platoon for the foreseeable future, how else does he plan to get Amed Rosario into the lineup?

As usual, Tribe pitchers cannot make a single mistake due to horrid offense.

Carlos Santana K'd about 15% in the minors and walked about the same. He has managed the same at the MLB level...walking as often as he Ks.

He also is a switch hitter, without discernable splits.

Jones in his MiLB career so far walks about the same as Santana, but Ks at double the rate. He also has huge splits.

Jones is a lot closer to Zimmer than Santana.

When will fans stop falling in love with every prospective windmill that comes along?
Actually, what I've heard is the closest comp to Nolan Jones is Russell Branyan. And that was said favorably, because Branyan would be more valued in today's game than he was when he played! I sure hope he's more than that, but yeah, he still has a lot to prove in the minors. I'm fairly shocked that anyone would think he's more ready than a guy like Daniel Johnson whose numbers against LHP at AAA are every bit as good as Jones has had at lower levels, plus Jet is a plus defender.

This might actually be true.
It's definitely true, what happens when this club starts dealing with injuries? We have 2 key guys, maybe 2 and a half if you want to count Franmil as the half, but Jose and Roberto behind the plate are key, that's it. I don't expect our team to kill April, but to look dreadful is beyond disappointing.

You might be forgetting Eddie Rosario or Cesar. Both have good track records.

Tom Hamilton said that Tito told him the team won't start hitting until they stop having so many off days. Matt Underwood said that the fact that the team isn't striking out too much is a good sign.

Is this where the organization is at with expectations and excuse-making?

They've been owned by Julio Tehran, Danny Duffy, Matt Boyd and Jakob Junis: there's no excuse.

One goddamn hit! That's all we have is one goddamn hit!
