Let's say Z isn't resigned. That would leave Drew and AV in the low post. We need an attraction in the middle for Z's replacement, and I think SAR would be a logical one. He is a double double machine, he can hit the outside shot, and he has some nice post moves. Insert him at PF, grab Kwame Brown and our front court rotation would look mighty nice.

Kwame/Av
Drew/SAR

I think SAR is fairly talented. But I don't know if he'll fit here. I don't know if I want to pay him how much he'll demand, which would be around 8-10mil /year, 5 years. Pay a little more and get Z. I don't trust anything from Portland, really. Maybe Damon Stoudamire, but he's not demanding big bukcs, he just wants to play.

I don't recal any problems with Z in the past. The problems started when he stepped into the Portland locker room. He plays behind Zach and he is used to being a starter in this league.

I think SAR can put up Zish numbers and he wouldn't cost us 14 million neither.

The problem is both SAR and Gooden are somewhat tweeners: guys who are sort of inbetween a three and four. AV with some more girth may eventually develop into a 5 but he's clearly a 4 right now. IMO if we lose Z we would need a more size then SAR would give us.

Now if we do a Gooden trade let's say for a PG then trying to grab SAR would be a no brainer.

I think we should look at SAR this offseason. He could be a nice player for us. But I think he may cost too much.

SAR is not a great fit here IMO. He is a bad defender and isn't going to demand too much attention. He has some really nice moves, and I do rate him as a scorer, but he is not a player that can take us to the next level. Our big dollars need to go on a shooter, whether or not Z is signed or traded. Rahim is a nice player, I just dont want to be the one paying him.

I think Abdur-Rahim is a very underrated player who didn't want to be in Portland!

He's is the kind of player who can do a little of everything and for those who say they can make up for Z's bad defense well Abdur-Rahim is definitely better.

He reminds me alot of the Vince Carter in Toronto situation.

A player who didn't play as hard or as much as he could of because he really didn't want to be where he was at and didn't see an enjoyable future for himself there.

If I have a chance to sign this guy for 8 million or under instead of signing Z for over 10 million I'd do it in a second!

Everyone knows he has ability and was stashed behind Zach"The Mad Jacker" Randolph in Portland.

This is one of the guys that may be a hell of a pick up for some team next season!

Rahim is an awful defender. He has zero defensive influence. We have two solid power forwards already, so why pay well over double their contracts if he isn't going to contribute a great deal more. I see no sense in chasing him at all. I do like his offensive game, but I dont think it is really required here.

I like him more then Z and Gooden.

Gooden is inconsistent and Z is a worse defender then Rahim.

All you have to do is look at thier hoopshype profiles.

If you're going to pay a non-defender who can score I'll take Rahim because he is a better athlete and runs the court very well!

I think his offensive game could be a welcome addition to any team.

I did read somewhere that the Cavs supposedly have interest in Shareef. You have to wonder about that right now since we have no GM or coach in place.

Shareef will be paid a lot less in his next contract. I like him as a player if the situation is right. If the Cavs end up either losing or trading Z then they will need to find a better frontcourt and low post scorer to replace him. Gooden isn't it. If the Cavs get a more defensive minded, rebounding C then Shareef could be a good fit at PF. Gooden could then be traded to try to fill another need.
If Z is resigned then Shareef isn't as good as a fit and the Cavs would be better off spending thier FA money elsewhere.

I would welcome SAR if Z isn't resigned. With out Z, we are going to have to find someone who can take control of the paint offensivly. It all depends on how much he is asking, I doubt SAR is expecting more than 8 mil.
