Schefter's article stating the Browns were looking for a fresh, offensive mind was encouraging to me... That and the fact he mentioned McDaniels is not line for the position here..
For me, I'm all on the Chip Kelly bandwagon... Is it just me or does anyone else see a little bit of Jimmy Johnson in him? Not saying he'll be a 3-time Super Bowl winner but they seem to have similar attitudes and philosophies..
GM wise, the discouraging thing is that the position is not going to attract as much interest because it's more or so going to be a glorified personnel director role... Very similar to what happened with Heckert in Philly..
MKC listed a good group of guys, there isn't a guy in there that particularly screams "NO!" other than Lombardi..
I'd prefer not Idzik from Seattle, mainly because he's a cap guy, not a personnel guy... The Browns have the cap guy in Banner, what they really need is a good eye for talent..
Whaley is an interesting name...He's a Pittsburgh guy through and through and someone Haslam is familiar with from his PIT days... Although the whole porno video e-mail incident he was involved in PIT is kinda bizarre...
Farmer is a guy who has seen his name thrown around quite a bit for GM jobs... Banner is familiar with him when he was drafted by Philly during Banner's early years in Philly..
I do like Caldwell a good amount... Interesting thing is he was college roomates with Niners OC Greg Roman at JCU..
Keim and Licht would both be good choices, they're very respected candidates... I like Licht the best out of all the candidates but he's in play for other jobs as well and will be highly sought after... Interestingly enough, he's a guy who brought Bill O'Brien into the NFL...
I'd honestly be alright with any of these, more or less because they're not Lombardi...
