I don't see the comparison between Nwaba and Sir Dom. Yeah they're similar in that they don't have great handles, lack the 3 point shot, and both are solid defenders.
Somebody show me some clips of Sir Dom blocking shots both on the perimeter and at the rim the way Nwaba seems to do on somewhat of a regular basis, in addition to steals. If he ever did that I must have missed it. Nwaba is a threat to be a help defender who can close and swat any careless, lazy attempts that go up in his vicinity.
That's a misinformed post...so yeah lol, you just missed it or just didn't watch him play.
All joking aside now,
Sir'Dom was a much better overall college player. Overall much better defender;
Had 7.4 DBPM as a senior, better stl rate(2.2 to 1.8 Per 40), much better blocking ability(2.8 to 0.7 Per 40) 94 DRTG and as a senior was the better offensive player in one of the toughest conference.(9 SOS)
Nwaba was not a good college player or a very good defensive player;
Had a modest 1.3 DBPM (0.90 SOS), As far as defense goes, he had Dom beat only in rebounding.
He was however a better offensive player in terms of point production and asisst numbers(only as a junior...he had lower career assist numbers).
I think the difference between them is that Nwaba actually took steps as n D-League and NBA player. His offense "translated" better in both compeititions.
Dom really didn't get a chance to play on an NBA team, but his defense did translate pretty perfectly to the G-League where he posted 2.5 BLKs and 1.7 STL as well as 4.6 DBPM. The issue is that his offense completely sucked(-3.9 OBPM).
To this day, I still don't understand how he didn't even get a chance to play on a team. His defense is legit and I liked his upside as a straight line driver as a finisher and a passer. He had legit rim protecting abilities and size to even play small ball 4.
I guess where Nwaba really blows him away is in IQ.
